    Calling all computer geeks...

    ... slk needs your help!

In a fit of boredom yesterday I spent a couple of hours throwing together a music video for Goldfinger's 'My Everything'. Nothing too intricate I'll concede just random shots of me talking to the camera, a horse tied to a tree (very Limerick), Brendan Daly firing a cross in against Cork City in the cup, gangs of lads laughing in cars and what not. Anyway I digress...

Having completed it and patted myself on the back I decided to upload it to youtube (in part to impress an absolute knockout from North Carolina but that's another story). So I transfer it to a memory stick, bring it to a friend's house and it won't play on his computer. Right now I'm in a net cafe and the same problem.

I used Windows Movie Maker to concoct it and the file type seems to possibly be a problem. Is it really going to just be a case of going home, saving the file as an AVI or whatever and working away from there? I tried changing the file type here but the only option given was WMMetc type file.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

On my problem wth transferring my vision to youtube that it. The content and the knockout from North Carolina I can figure out myself.

    Thanks in advance,
    slk

I think you'll have to open it with Windows Movie Maker again, then there's an option to finalise the project as a .wmv which should be uploadable to YouTube.

if only i could help, its too late you have to go home.

A soldier in the time of need, never leave one in the trenches taking grenades. I like the sound of this knockout, has she any sisters. This reminds me of last night in the city when i was convinced this swedish chick i was chatting to was denise van outen, and i wouldn't let it go, i was so loaded i kept persisting that she was lying to me for some reason. I swear though, this one looked just like her, but actually slightly hotter, if thats possible

And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away

Having wasted the last half decade or so chasing down anybody with an American accent (and it all started with a young one living in Cork) this particular lady has convinced me that I need to specialise. From now on it will be suave, Southern accents all the way. US Southern accents that is, not an actual Corkie one!

Perhaps it was Denise Van Outen pretending to be Swedish?

Paul, you'd talk to the wall if you thought it was from the deep south. Or that you could score off it

Well I went home, changed the file type, came back here, the computer can read it now but youtube is now behaving like an awkward little girl that won't play ball and really doesn't want to give me any chance of impressing the aforementioned belle with my artistic vibes and all round creativity (thankfully I have my personality and other assets to fall back on ).

Query: given youtube's reluctance to help out, is my ex youtube?

Well if it's an ex, presumably you've turned her off, the question is do you want to try turning her back on again?

Do you know what Codec you used, what the file extension is, file size, etc.? If its AVI the codec is probably the problem. WMV, it should work anywhere. ASX or ASF will likely be a problem.

I know a good bit about this stuff so I should be able to help you out
