Well I can only speak for myself, but I'm rather sure my hatred of Clinton isn't because I'm scapegoating a minority, but rather because he's an utter, utter ****, an average player, a moron, and once bragged about learning how to drink a pint of Guinness, presumably because he proper loves Eire. Innit?

I'm replying to this now because I see I've been given an infraction (2 years after the event - and presumably by the dumbass that has now thanked your post) for my original reply to your post which I considered drivel.

I'm against the capping of players with "weak" linkage to us but once they are capped they have my full support as I believe they should be given a clean slate to prove themselves by their actions rather than judged on what gutter journalism deems worthy to be published. If I had the authority, I probably wouldn't have given Clinton Morrison the opportunity to play for Ireland but then again we're not on first name terms. However in saying that, Clinton Morrison hasn't done anything in his time as an Irish international for me to question his commitment to our cause. Quite the contrary. Now yes he is an average player and in his youth mentioned something or other about Guinness. But it's hardly the stuff to incite hatred or to justify your mini rant.

Clinton may have said some stupid stuff, but he was the only senior player who, while a member of the senior panel, went to watch the B international a couple of years ago to support the lads. I thought that was a nice touch. I think that was near the end of the Kerr era.

I was all excited reading this teaser about Selcuk Tidim. Thought there was some breaking news about him because I really rate this lad. But then there's something about who said what about Clinton Morrison. C'mon lads stay on topic.

From the little recent information I can find on him around the web, he doesn't appear to be playing in their first team yet. Still only 18 after all. He has been called into our under-19 squad however by Paul Doolin for two games in Cyprus, so at least somebody's keeping an eye on him.

From my limited german they're saying he's a top class prospect. He won player of the tournament at some tournament haha. They really seem to rate him. Seems they're getting most of their info from the FAI site which is pretty ironic.

Connolly wasn't the only player Givens fell out with. Seems he had his mind made up about players before he ever picked up the phone to talk to him.

Wouldn't be for capping players that seemed to be holding an auction for the best international team
But in fairness to Clinton he gave his heart and soul when pulling on the green jersey
