So Connolly's version of events:
Givens: "are you fit?"
Connolly: "why do you want to know?"
Givens: "I want to call you into the squad"
Connolly: "Why wasn’t I in the original squad?"
Givens: "I choose the squad"
Connolly: "I feel I should have been in the original squad"
Givens: "do you want to play or not?"
Connolly: "no"
*Givens hangs up*
And Givens version:
Givens: "Hello David, it's Don Givens. Are you fit?"
Connolly: "To what do I owe the honour of this phone call?"
Givens: "I would like you to join the squad tomorrow?"
Connolly: "Why was I not selected in the original squad?"
Givens: "David, that was the choice I made"
Connolly: "I should be the number one striker for Ireland, not number five."
Givens: "David, do you want to come tomorrow?"
Connolly: "no"
Givens: "Right David, good luck"
*Givens hangs up*
They both have good memories as those are very similar.

I'd be pretty sure he said that thing about being the number 1 striker. Givens isn't going to lie about that and Connolly would be embarrassed to tell the public he said that. The only other difference is whether Givens wished him look before hanging up.
