His positional sense is quite poor in my opinion and because he isnt the quickest he really needs to work on it. I think this was really illustrated in the penalty he gave away against Wales, you could just see it coming. He had a good spell last year but needs to turn it around again.

Ok jaysus leave my grammar alone!

He needs to get some confidence back but i think he's possibly our weakest player in our starting XI (if he makes it in)

He was playing well, but was dropped and rightly so. Alot depends on who you play beside him.
I agree with you, but I think he was hugely overrated by a lot of people, even though he was playing well.

He was practically being made out to be the saviour of Irish football and the Euro campaign at one stage, a bit too much pressure for a lad that young.

Poor technically, lacks pace, poor positioning and reading of the game, not rated by his fellow players but some fans rate him due to his committment.

Committment is not enough at the top level which is why he has been found out, pity Stan could not see it!

I don't care what anybody says, Ferguson would have shipped him out by now if he didn't have ability.

He's got a great touch for a defender, but just lacks in the decision making process at times.

I don't think this would be found out as much at centre half as they are the players least involved with ball possession (most of them anyway, you'll always get the odd Rio style centre-half).

I really do think he has a very good football brain. He lacks the experience at the moment but he'll be learning a lot with every game he plays and every game he watches from the bench. I can't see him failing to have a successful international career. He's willing to learn unlike a lot of footballers. He puts an awful lot of thought into the game and he has the intelligence to take it in. I can't agree with those that think he lacks it. His style of play makes him look like a headless chicken but the same things are said about Scott Brown some times. He certainly doesn't lack football intelligence. I'm sure it was the same for players like Gattuso and Puyol.

He was all the rage a few games back and now he is rubbish. We build up players to quickly without seeing if there is any substance, he never lacked for committment but any player who lacks pace in this position needs to be more physically dominant than Paul.
Premiership football is probally a level to high for him.

If anything that's his strength. He dominates against the big men with not so much pace but I'd say someone like Kenny Miller or Craig Bellamy would be a nightmare for him.

McShane is out of his depth. Championship at best. Glad he's out of the team. I'm sure people will notice are defence is a little bit more solid now with McShane in there.

One minute he is going to be a star.... now he should be the scrappers yard. The guy is going through a bad patch but if he learns from his mistakes he could become a very good player for us.

He is still young but I kind of doubt he will ever be a very good player(hope I'm wrong), his mental side of the game should improve with age but I don't think he is going to get any faster or grow a couple of inchs

    Smile

Ferguson usually makes the right decision when shipping players out, how many can you say have performed at the same standard required at united with different clubs? Ince? Kanchelskis? Beckham? Veron? Save for van nistlerooy though

Again when he can dominate in the air against Koller, Berbatov, Benni McCarthy and Kevin Davies I don't think height is an issue.
