The lad is made of stern stuff!!

Was just wondering though, they leave the stitched wound open to the elements.
Would of thought they might put a bandage on it at least for the rest of the match.

To his credit Paul went on to finish the match.

Deserves credit for his battling qualities .

Fellani doesn't come out of that "tackle" looking good.

Fellani vicious sort imo, but having said that, I don't particularly dislike him as a player, he is one of the 'characters' of the game I suppose.

Sky didn't pick up on it but about 3 or 4 minutes before Fellani's assault, McShane had put in a strong tackle on him and words were exchanged between the two so Fellani's assault was pre-meditated. Nice to see the Hull crowd giving McShane a warm round of applause.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

I have given him plenty of stick in recent times, but have to day that he did show up well for Hull yesterday. With all our problems at international level (in defence) it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could be used against England / Scotland.

This is an Ireland message board, not a Liverpool one. Hull getting relegated is bad for our national team, I couldn't care less about whether he made a comment about some English club or other.

I wouldn't mind, the comment was completely harmless and I don't even think he was mocking Liverpool, despite the suspicious wording. Here it is in its full context.

Exactly and Paul will go again in August. Sad to see an "Ireland player" go down but he will go again!

McShane released by Hull, yet daddy's boy Bruce gets a new deal.

All that is wrong with the game, the Ginger Pele deserves better.

Wow... kind of shocked at that. Quinn offered a new contract at least.

Long-serving McShane and Rosenior amongst those to depart....

The Club’s retained list for the 2015/16 season has been confirmed today and we can confirm the departures of out of contract players Liam Rosenior, Paul McShane, Yannick Sagbo, Maynor Figueroa, Steve Harper and Joe Dudgeon. Alex Bruce and Stephen Quinn have been offered new deals with the Tigers.

Commenting on the retained list, manager Steve Bruce told the Official Website: “Regrettably, following relegation, we have made the decision to release the majority of those players whose contracts have expired. We would like to place on record our thanks for the service they have given to the club, particularly our two longest serving players Liam Rosenior and Paul McShane. Both players have been outstanding for us and they leave with our very best wishes for their futures.

"The aim now is to retain as many of the remaining squad as possible and look to add some new faces this summer as we bid to compete at the top end of the Championship and bounce straight back into the top flight".

McShane’s departure brings to an end a seven-year association with the Tigers which began back in August 2008 when he arrived on loan from Sunderland. He was part of the side that made such a memorable start to the Club’s first ever season in top flight football and he made a permanent move to the KC Stadium in August 2009. The Irish international defender has made 136 appearances for the Tigers and scored five goals, including the one which effectively sealed promotion back to the Premier League against Cardiff in 2013.

Meanwhile Rosenior leaves having played 161 times for the Club. Signed as a free agent in October 2010, the full back soon became a popular figure and added some much needed experience to a young side adapting to life back in the Championship. He was a member of the squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2013 and also played as the Tigers made history in the 2014 FA Cup Final and made their debut in the UEFA Europa League.

Veteran goalkeeper Harper departs having made 31 appearances for the Club while Dudgeon, Sagbo and Figueroa have racked up 127 appearances between them.

We wish all those who are leaving all the very best for the future.

Not shocked myself to be honest. I wonder would he consider a return to the LOI?

It will be interesting to see who comes in for him.

I think he will get offers from championship club and maybe even some premiership clubs.

I hope he gets a good offer.

I think he'll get Championship club, no problem. Unlikely to return to Ireland just yet.

No, he's not going to take a 90% pay cut to play in the LOI.

I'm going to give KK the benefit of the doubt here, he clearly knows that and is just being a wum.

I thought so but worth making the point for people who might not realise the relative difference between a standard Championship contract and the league here.

Looking at the 'Pool' defence. He wouldn't look out of place alongside Skrtel.

No real surprise. Any players on big contracts and whose deals expired will be let go. Don't be surprise if he resigns on reduce terms if he doesn't get a better offer.
