Yeah, that's my point - the bigots would never invite a proper football team to a GAA match to be paraded - cos their bigots!

I have to agree with this sentiment. Those p***ks shouldn't be let anywhere NEAR the X. The GAA have operated bigoted policies for too long, until they do the likes of Nemo can stay the Hell out of our ground.

What's wrong with an All-Ireland winning club from Cork being feted by Cork people in their own parish?

All I'm saying is that no GAA team should be welcome in a soccer ground for a half-time presentation until the reverse is also the case.
I'm well aware that not every GAA head is a bigot. I never said that. I just said the organisation was. Also your reference to people's 'own' parish is way off the mark. It might be Nemos, it isn't all the fans home parish. In fact, most of the City fans I know aren't from Turners X parish. Neither am I, so as I say....Nemo OUT!!

Jezz! I think that its a good idea. Its good to give a friendly gesture to the nemo team, after all they are based only about 4 min walk away from the X and they are All-Ireland champions. AFIK this would be the first such time a GAA team has been invited to the X, so in that reagrd SEJ, Cork GAA are only 1 behind City/FAI!

How can we ever expect to be welcomed by the GAA if we dont welcome them?

By this logic, any one who plays for a GAA team should not be welcome.

The reference to "their own parish" is Nemo's own parish.
So when City win a league/cup, they should not parade through the city, cos not everyone is a fan of the club, and there may be people not from Cork around?

Without getting into a long argument about this, I think it's a nice gesture, well deserved and just turn your back/go to the pub if you do not agree with it.

Typicial SEJ reaction two wrongs make a right dont they. The reason such a situation exist between the two codes is exactly because of attitiutes like yours. Some one has to make the first gesture.

Suppose its the mature gesture from city but woudn't bother me one way or the other.

Then again could also be looked at that Nemo are a local parish team in the same way city would let those kids outf rotnhe peno shoot outa at halftime.

my first reaction was to oppose it, i agreed that until the gaa welcome the FAI on their pitches the reverse should not take place.

having said that someone has to make the first move, and it'll be a while before the gaa do. i think parading nemo at the cross at half time in a televised game is a good move. while trevor and rico are discussing the first half the nemo boys will be behind them, it'll demand comment by them.

i hope all at the cross give them a good cheer for their achievements and show the powers that be in the gaa that the barriers they've erected have no place anymore within sports, especially in a country the size of ireland.

i think it's a positive move, and i hope regardless of your parish that you get behind this 'peace process'.

They may not be able to make it, though they were invited. But on some of the hysteria, I think the GAA opening their facilities would be bad long term for the eL as it would stop them from developing their own pitches, which they've had loads of time to do but **** all initiative. At least now they're talking to the IRFU. At the moment City are paying rent to the MFA, but the money is staying in football/soccer. If the FAI or eL use GAA pitches the money is lost.
