Scored twice (one was a penalty) in the Scottish Cup against Inverness CT,

Stokes made it five from the spot after he had been felled by Tuffey inside the Caley box after racing through to take advantage of Munro's headed back pass which was too short.

The Irishman then scored the goal of the night with nine minutes remaining, driving powerfully from outside the box to give the flailing Tuffey no chance.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I like Long but Stokes really should get in ahead of him for next squad. He is proving himself more and is worthy of a proper chance. And it appears he is enjoying his football.

I don't think he will get a call-up though. Trap is too stubborn

It is hard to comprehend how two players with a grand total of one goal between them this year (a penalty at that) get the call over Stokes who now has 4

I think Long has been disappointing.I expected alot more from him after Doyle left Reading but he hasnt really kicked on and established himself properly at all. Stokes has impressed me in the last year with his change of attitude and hopefully he will continue. Its not like he has been totally ignored by Trap, he has been in plenty of squads and he will be back in soon enough if he keeps up his current form
    Its really not that complicated!!!

I can't speak for the other clubs, but more often than not Keane had him on the wing at Sunderland.

Similar at Palace and Shefield Utd by all accounts
I pity the fool!.... But suggest ways that he might improve himself.

was at the game today - stokes played very well in parts - his ability alone made him stand out a mile from everyone else- this boy will be our number 1 striker in 12months if he keeps this up- having watched him on several occasions last season at hibs - he's working harder for the team more so now - this was evident today- it's shocking to think that Trap rates Sheridan higher - this boy is the real deal as far as i'm concerned

Sheridan did score twice last night though. But I wonder what the comparison is in lower half Bulgarian teams and lower half Scottish ones.

Was also at the Celtic game on Sat.

Stokes definitely put in a good shift. Looked dangerous and provided plenty of ammunition for his team mates. He pulled out wide and deep quite regularly and actually pinged in a few decent through balls / crosses. I wouldn't be quite as flattering as Royal rover above his performance but no doubt he diud play well and will be a key player for us in the forthcoming campaigns.

Interestingly, the endless running, closing down and crosses etc... perhaps showed he is becoming more of a 'team' player, something that Trap has raised concerns about in the past.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

Are Celtic in the Europa cup. It would be interesting to see how Anthony would do against european opposition.

They were knocked out but Stokes had already played in the Europa League for Hibs so he wouldn't have featured anyway.
