I actually wanted England to win at the start of the game but phook me, this is embarassing stuff. Got to be the worst defeat of the CWC, much moreso than us going down to Australia or some of the group stage cannon fodder games.

I cam home & just the start of the Setanta Cup game. I had not checked all day but flicked on to check the cricket score to see RSA 157-3 & hitting the winning shot. I had to to a double check on the time until I realised was 8.15pm.

Imagine, there is a possibility we could end up ahead of England, but I think that is too optimistic.

Sri Lanks, by how much will they win by, the Irish Lads might had have a few drinks after the win v Bangla

    Brilliant.

I wonder what Michael Atherton thinks now.

We loose the toss again. I think we have won it, 2 or 3 times out 10.

Trent says he would have batted first anyway. (The inveterate toss losers defence mechanism?)
Maninga is still on the sick list.
Any predictions for our opening partnership?

Would have batted anyway. Sri Lanka at full strength minus Malinga, who hasn't been risked. Ireland have selected Kenny Carroll, the only squad player not to feature to date, in place of Andrew White. An opening batsman by trade, he's been picked at number 8. Presumably his selection is a pat on the back for making the trip and possibly an opportunity to avail of his part-time chinaman bowling. Botha has been promoted up the order to 3, hopefully to provide Morgan with a buffer against the new ball, as I've been advocating all tournament.

So much for the hype. Just goes to show why we need to keep our best players at home. Morgan has consistently chosen Middlesex ahead of Ireland but he's fooling himself if he thinks he's got any chance of playing Test cricket with a record like that.

Was thinking the exact same. Only a couple of weeks ago Ed Joyce called him the best young batsman in county cricket. Mind you he's probably on a par with Vaughan at this stage in ODI

    The Botha experiment worked well...

According to a message posted by the squad on CricketEurope today, it's for John McCormick, who was a prominent figure with North County CC.
