Rest?? They've just had 6 days of rest. How many more do they want? This is the World Cup. Plenty of time for rest when it's over.

If they want rest after 2 matches, god knows how they would cope with playing 5-day Test match slogs???

This is effectively the Super 8 at this stage so resting player for this game seems no different than first 'official' Super 8 game?
Sorry. Thought people new Johnston was injured. It's in his shoulder so he could easily do more damage . Better to have him for 6 out of seven games than none. The physio said the other day that a week should sort it out. Thank God for the red button on sky digital one of the many reasons for dumping NTL

Someone in NTL headquarters obviously pushed the red button.

    Good stuff.

    Decent start by Ireland

60/1 after 14 overs. Porterfield out for a duck. Again

70/2 off 19 overs. rate has really slowed down now - need to be picked up again to have any sort of defensible total.

only good thing is that Powell and Bradshaw have each bowled 9 overs. Powell had Bray in particular in all sorts of trouble earlier on.

    97-4 off 26 overs.

Not exactly capitulation but as usual, we need one player to make a big score to shore up the rest. Ireland aren't unusual in that respect and 97-4 at halfway could easily translate into a score of 230/250 which would be very respectable. Needs Botha and O'Brien to stay in through 35 overs I think though.

Anybody know why Ireland chose to bat first? are they expecting the pitch to start moving a bit later on or is there an expectation of a bit of rain that might get the ball zipping off the surface?

It could be as simple as reckoning only chance of victory was to post a decent total and then have a real cut at the Windies.

When we bowled first against Pakistan and put them out we huffed and puffed to get to a very low total.

Can't afford to lose another wicket soon if we want to get above 200, which has got to be the target in all our Super 8 games.

EDIT: As I type we lose another one.

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

173 for 8 now. Match reduced to 48 overs.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Finished 183 for 8 after 48 overs. Maybe we can bowl 'em out for 25 again.
