If somehow they both went 221 runs, is there a tie breaker like wickets or is it a draw?

It's a tie, not a draw. I don't think they use wickets lost as a tiebreaker anymore.

Maiden from Johnston. Ireland need two quick wickets but haven't threatened for a long time.

Jammy bastid. Edged for four. O'Brien standing up to Botha watched it sail past.

Why is a wicket such an imperative? Will it not be enough to just see out the overs without giving up runs?

That is generally the objective, but the poorer batsman are last ones to bat

They can reach this target at their leisure because they have so many wickets to play with and can cut loose with impunity when the time comes. On the other hand, if Ireland can remove a couple of batsmen, the less capable and experienced tailenders come into play.

What does that involve? Stepping off the crease to gain a step up?

TheBoss, that equation is far more comfortable for the batting side than it looks. Particularly with five wickets standing. Run-out appeal but he made his ground.

    Just batting more aggressively.

    Bray just dropped a dolly.

    1. Our fielding has been muck.

    2. I`ve decided, looking around the ground, that cricket doesn`t suit the Irish pysche. A game where you sit around in the sun pinting all day & talking sh1te could be the ruination of the country.

Its all over by the shouting now. Zimbabwe have too many wickets 7 over left to lose it now. Matsikenyeri been in too long now & hopeless drop by the boundary. Bowlers have been ok but fielding just not good enough & Ireland losing the heads now.

Those cheap wickets in our innings have cost us.

Whacking the ball around without having to worry as much about getting out.

33 needed off 8 overs. Can't see Ireland winning bar a miracle.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

If Ireland were to take a wicket now would that not rattle Zimbabwe a bit? Make them a bit nervy?

    203/5 maybe not.
