    SPANKED 'EM!

Much more important than the 2 points - full ODI ranking now. Let's get the big boys over. Croke Park is surely bigger than some of those pitches in the Caribbean

    Great victory by some margin.

Best innings with the bat i've seen with Ireland. Bowling was solid but with the exception of Ashraful Bangladesh were very poor.

    Just a whisker off 6th

2 heavyish defeats for the Windies and we could get there yet.

EDIT: Or it would be if they weren't playing Bangladesh (D'OH). Looks like we'll have to beat Sri Lanka so...

    Official ODI Teams

It seems there are only 10 official ODI teams so it seems like a huge achievement for Ireland to become no.11

They were sucking pints after Ashraful was put out, a great achievement.
It's a wierd set up though with some players wanting to declare for England.

With official ODI status maybe players won't be so quick to declare for England. The only difference would be if played Test cricket with England.

Beat two current full members in one year
    The Model Club

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

Test cricket is still the big one though so I doubt it'd have that much impact.

    Great performance !

We batted brilliantly and bowl hard when needed to, we were in control at the end and got the deserved victory.

I think if we can win some of games that are lined up during the year, the ICC might consider Test status.

Ireland are now the 12th ODI team. The others are the 10 test-nations and Kenya. Great result. I reckon it could have a similar (but much smaller) effect on Irish cricket to the what happened to footie after Euro '88 and Italia '90.

    Yes, I was in France.

Saw the caption on telly last night, 115 against Zim and I realised the folly of my post!

Becoming the 12th ODI team is a huge plus, especially as we're beside England so will get plenty of games from tourists (which we already did but without the status so now they mean more to the tourists). Does it mean we automatically qualify for the World Cup in future?

Ireland wanted that game more than Bangladesh. Very professional performance.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
