There was a notice in the galway advertiser yesterday about any clubs wishing to apply to enter the CSL. Applications have to be by a certain date, not sure of the date though.

It appears the powers that be are making an effort to resurrect it. Will it be successful?

As Far as im aware they are tying to rbring it back but it will be part of a 3 sectioned Eircom League divsion 2!!! Clubs will be amature with the options of improving and thus receiving a lience to play in the Pro league in time when thay have improved all standards.

very good, huge incentive so for teams to progess and better themself's . probably only the big 3(in terms of population, i.e. more youths avaible to them on a on-going bases) ballina, castlebar & westport from Mayo would be successful ??

After winnng the FAI Junior Cup, this is the obvious step up for Westport United to make, but will the club make the jump? Are the players interested? These issues needs to be addressed by the club.

The Mayo League wouldn't want to here talk of C.S.L. as it would under mind there league.
If you ask fellow members of Connaught Council they would tell you the same When Mayo clubs pull out of C.S.L. and returned to Mayo, it was the down fall of C.S.L..
Mayo would introduce €130.00 transfer fee to prevent players leaving junior football.

That happened in Sligo years ago they had a meeting in Sligo and they said that any junior club that produced anyone good enough to make it at Sligo Rovers they would give the club some kind of fee IT NEVER HAPPENED.

CSL comeback might mess up eircom league reserve teams that enter, as well as mayo league teams, both now in summer competition. What stage are the discussions at?

it would be a question of travel and costs for a lot of clubs too surely....doing it for the junior cup or connaucht cup once or month is a lot different to doing it every week.

how many teams would be in it? 12? im assuming at least 1 team from every "county" league is required....

It COULDN'T be any more expensive to play in the C.S.L. THAN TO PLAY IN Mayo
.Mayo is base on how much the league can squeeze out of its clubs to compensate its over all cost to up keep Milebush stadium ltd . But yet Mile Bush is run by its own company separate from the Mayo League company, yet funds are being used from the League to up keep the other company. Sound strange in deed.
If C.S.L. May be a better option for clubs, travel shouldn't be a problem, when you consider most clubs that have underage use buses all the time.
Player may react differently towards a Senior league. I for one wouldn't rule out withdrawing An A team out of any League if the players of the club wanted to play at a higher level.

    CSL

Connacht football needs a senior league. Standard of football played in the old CSL was excellent, games mostly played on Saturdays, three officials, and the weekly challenge was much greater. But it has to have a cross section of teams from across the province.

I see it just managed to get a mention in this week's local newspaper, I wonder why it didn't appear before now or did I miss it. Closing date 24th march entries to Art Friel. One must question which hat the sport's editor Ware

Art Friel might know. Paddy Flynn in Ballina was well involved.
