    Post Connaught Senior League (NEW)

I see a meeting wil be held to discuss the above by the connaught F.A next week. Surley this is pointless with alot of the former teams taking abode in the A league? GUFC,Rovers, C/Celtic and Salthill wont be too interested id imagine. Will it be winter league? Anyone any thoughts

Would you not consider that this might have been a better step to take for these clubs to enter a Connaught Senior League before looking at the League of Ireland A Championship? It would be a higher level of football for the clubs without having the big cost factor of travelling long distances. Transport, Meals, players away from work and having to leave early and return late.

The problem with senior league before was that junior football had overtaken it quality wise. A lot of the clubs that regraded took a couple of seasons to recover on their return to their respective local leagues.

Yes I would agree. But there was no mention of the connaught snr league when these sides were signing up to the A league. The problem with the CSL was that it was winter football and games were called off ever other week. It might work if it were summer soccer. It might tempt the likes of westport, West United ect and Castlerea who for them the A league is not and option. Maybe the top 3 sides Finishing in each of the counties should be offered a place. Like a connaught Champions league!

That could be a league format that could work.
