Think he's got a big part to play for us in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Would love to see him and Doyler playing in tandem up front with Robbie deployed as an attacking midfielder.
The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

Roy Keane is still a pri*k!
Judging by the way Folan unsettled the Italians in Bari he has an awful lot to offer a team which has never evolved in attack since the departure of Niall Quinn. Much as we like to kid ourselves that we play a bit of football in the final third, and in all honesty we are better at it now than perhaps any time in the past, we are still more effective playing to a big man.
Imagine Robbie picking up the pieces from Folan's knock downs and Doyle's passes into space, with Duff and McGeady or Lawrence hovering around. I know it's been said here that Trap won't change his midfield / forward line but it would be nice if he did. Stating the obvious but the more goals Ireland can score the better off we'll be.
In terms of a starting position, Folan will only get there if Doyle is absent -- that is who he is competing with for a place. The only time we'll see Robbie, Doyler and Folan on the pitch together is if we're down a goal or more.
Even though Doyle is a better individual, I'd be tempted to play Folan ahead of Doyle, as Robbie elevates his game tremendously when paired with a target man.
Wolves interested in Folan according to skysports.

Just returned to training after being out with a knee injury, will be interesting to see if he can work his way back in to contention for a place under Trap.

Apparently has come over here to try and move to MLS.

I don't see the point, he'll be moving down in quality and his chances of a call up will be slimmer. Then again he's done well at League One level so far so he should be OK in MLS.

Played two friendlies for Colorado Rapids, and did well in the second one, impressing their manager:

Very brief highlights below - pre-season friendly makes it sound more glamorous that it really is. Folan is mentioned about 1.45 into the video.

Folan is hoping to work out a deal with the Colorado Rapids after his trial games this week. He's also hoping a move to Colorado will not hinder his International prospects
“That does cross your mind a bit but, first and foremost, you have to be playing in an environment where you feel you can progress and be happy,” he said. “(Ireland manager Giovanni) Trapattoni has always been very good with me. I have a lot of respect for him as his view is that, wherever you are in the world, as long as you are performing, it’s all right. He’s always watching out for you.”

I hear Trap has a villa and a swimming pool in Colorado.
