If you can get a 'ticket and bus/train/cab fare + likely a hotel/hostel room for one night' in dublin for $80, please tell me where!
I was wondering which was better value, flying to Boston in May to watch Ireland play a friendly against Bolivia for $220 airfare (And buy a ticket and bus/train/cab fare) likely comes to about $250 USD. Or flying to Dublin for about $320 USD (And buy ticket and bus/train/cab fare + likely a hotel/hostel room for one night) likely comes out to about $400 USD (or more) to watch a Euro qualifier against Slovakia in Croke Park. I made minimum wage over the summer and made about $1,100 working 4-11PM 4-5 days a week. Are either of these worth spending the money on or should I wait for a WCQ? Keep in mind this would be the first time I've been to a match

If you can afford it I'd go with the Dublin trip. Will give you a much better idea of what Irish international football is about. As its a qualifier the intensity level should be higher too. Friendlies,as a rule, suck

There's no way you'd get a flight, ticket and accomodation to Dublin for the Slovakia for anywhere near $400.
Lads to be honest I think he's done his trip calculations in two parts, one cost for getting to Ireland and a second cost of accommodation/ticket etc.., whilst here. A bit of punctuation is missing it appears and far too many brackets.
Total $720 (Still underestimated I would imagine)Or flying to Dublin for about $320 USD. <new sentence> Buy ticket and bus/train/cab fare + likely a hotel/hostel room for one night likely comes out to about $400 USD (or more ) to watch a Euro qualifier against Slovakia in Croke Park.
I stand correct but I don't think anyone is as naive as that.
It'd probably cost the $720 for a flight alone.![]()
Depends on how much he wants to pay for accomodation but a hostel can easily be got for €30 a night. Aircoach from airport €12 return. Add in €10 for other possible transport charges, €50 for food and drink, €50 for ticket...

It is $320 USD to Dublin. It gets slowly more expensive as it get toward the summer as seemingly no one wants to go there during the winter
And Nevermind, it would be for the Wales match (which probably even lessens the odds as it is the first football match in Croke Park). The match is a day after my birthday, so maybe that will help some.
P.S. Now they are saying (Expedia) $800 USD to Dublin. It was $320 on Saturday and it was that last year as well. So, I guess the only option is the Boston match now

Yeah, the Slovakia match is next month so you were never going to get a decent price.
Not true, we got tickets in 1 week's advance for the Wales vs Ireland (Rugby) last year and the airfare was $320. Now, I wasnt paying for that (otherwise I would have gone to a football match instead) but still.
EDIT: I found airfare with a stop over in London for $500 (tax included) I think the reason its so expensive is they dont seem to fly direct to Dublin anymore (thanks to the ****tiness of their business right now...American Airline that is)

$541 (with tax) is the latest price. My parents don't particularly want me going as my school work is not great and they dont really want me spending the money on this (as that would be half of what I made this summer, again, 4-11PM Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun, and sometimes another day). So it is looked pretty dire right now. I think my dad is a mileage plus member for American (Because he used to fly all of the time for business), so maybe he can pay for the flight, get a bit of a deal, and then I would have to pay him back in full. I suppose we'll see. My dad is much more gung ho about it, knowing the importance of sport to a male. My mother is much more protective. I mowed lawns for about 8 years when I was younger, so maybe that cash will come of use
