You'll never beat the Boys in Green....Keano! Keano!
He scores goals by the dozen
    He's Barack Obama's Irish cousin

How many points did Villa earn when Keane was there? Just wondering if in hindsight he can be said to have kept them up? They've been in freefall for about 10 weeks.

due a burst of them then

5 points, they did play Newcastle, Arsenal and City in the 6 games he was there for.

I remember when there was rumours of him signing full time a lot of Villa fans thought they were above signing Keane...

Despite making only six appearances this season, Robbie is still joint fourth with Marc Albrighton in Villa's scoring table!
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

I think Dylan Moran would appreciate Obama way more than he does Schwarzenegger. I don't even know what Irish Spring is though. Do some people outside Ireland still think potatoes are an aphrodisiac?

No they still think irish people think they are aphrodisiacs.

Its the soap. And i believe it has no connection to Ireland whatsoever other than Americans marketing wags copping on that the clean and green image of ireland would well work on a domestic cleansing product.

I think I 'get' your comment now, but I am not sure can you be more specific?

I have narrowed it down to two possible meaning each with a 50% likely hood, so I need a bit of help.

What some of you don't seem to understand is that, to most Americans with Irish heritage, embracing that heritage means using Irish Spring, listening to Dropkick Murphys (who are the "pogs?"), drinking Shamrock Shakes (and Guinness), eating Lucky Charms**, and wearing green/getting drunk on St. Patrick's Day.

**which I thought was a worldwide product until I asked some Galwegians and they'd never heard of it, much less had it.

Two years ago I landed in Toronto and went to the store to pick up some toiletries.
Saw Irish Spring and said to myself, "I must have that". It's gack. Original Source all the way.

Worm, back in the early 90s Lucky Charms were launched here. They were pretty popular for a while and then once the novelty wore off they waned. Interestingly enough I hated the mallow so picked them out and only ate the cereal. Wretched stuff all round.

As a proud, self-respecting Irishman, feckless drinking naturally consumes my mind like it does every other Irish person across the planet. Just enquiring as to its alcohol content.

I knew I remembered having Charms over there around 93. We dont have the cheese and onion Sandwich from the vending machine like I got at UCD though. Regretted that one.

Definitely my favourite Irish Spring ad. And incidentally I think Villa's rapid end of season demise was more attributable to Dunnes absence than Keanes.

A huge blow of course, but I think Villa's goal scoring was a much bigger problem than their defending.

Agreed. Villa could eke out plenty of draws, but were as blunt as lukewarm margarine. Plus wasn't a huge difference in quality of defending with Dunne in or out to be honest. Villa chronic poor at the back.
