Almost to man City were rubbish although im being told that last night was the best away performance of the season. My ratings are as follows:

    Mick Devine 7
    Greg 8
    Gaz 5
    Bennett 5
    Carey 5
    Woods 3
    Grady 5
    Georgie 5
    Colin T 7
    Flynn 6
    JFM 6

    (Gunther 0)

Colins goal was one of the best Ive ever seen in the eircom League.

Digger was his usual entertaining self.
Eric Lavine and Alan Kirby destroyed us.
Gunther made no substitutions, although I cant quite see who we ahve on the bench who would have made a difference.

    City attendance c100.

Yeah, it was the same old rubbish that we've wittnessed in all the away games this season. Gunther has absolutley no plan of action and is a clueless b@stard.
If we lose again on Friday against Shels (which I think we will) we will be 8 points behind assuming Bohs win. Something has got to be done fast.

clueless and inept is the best way to describe the performance. Billy Woods should be dropped if he ever turns in a display like that again. I think Devine, Greg, Colin and Jimmy Mull were the only ones who played well at all. Murphy was brainless as usual- he must go now

City were very poor, esp in midfield, missed Renno bigtime.
Greg was citys best player, IMO should have been moved into midfield at halftime.
We created only 4 goalscoring chances. Opposition defenders are getting wise to JOF, closing him down very quickly.
Murphy was like one of those mime artists on Paul St that stay motionless for ages, he didn't move for the game, I'm sure he was asleep. No subs brought on.
Longford supporters in the stand had a big drum which helped get the crowd going.
Around 100 City fans made the trip.

Gutless pathetic performance by city - don't be fooled by the scoreline as city created virtually no chances & Longford wasted a few in the 2nd half. The scoreline may make it look like we unlucky but Longford passed the ball more & looked in more control of the game while city meerly looked for a defensive mistake (ala Jack Charlton) to get any scoring chances.

    Questions:
    - why more George back to midfield but hoof the ball over the heads of him all match?
    - why do both city forwards take positions 50 yeards apart for goalkicks? how are the supposed to get flick ons if on the other side of the picth???
    - why hasn't Carey been dropped/rested yet?

    Sort it out Murphy!

Sounds pretty dismal alright. City must be pretty gutless if they allow things to fall apart right now. I suspect it will more of the same against Shels on friday and come derry on friday week derry will be well up to get a result in cork. The honeymoon is over and i don't think city have the character to get it sorted. i mean longford!!!!!!. what was even worse was the fact ucd could beat pat's a week after beating us 1-4
    john flynn? - awesome!!!!!!

Lads, I know Im a huge critic of Murphy, but to be fair, I cant see what a few substitutions would have done the other night. We didnt have anyone on the bench who would have made a difference.

I thought Carey did ok Pete. I do agree with your other queries kind of though.

We will lose agin to Shels on Friday. We wont lose to Derry.

However, if we lose both i predict that Gunther will resign. Although the guy was honest in the papers today saying that the defence was a shambles.

Yeah, im convinced we will lose to shels and beat Derry too.
However, i cant see Gunther resigning till the end of the season, when i reckon he will go regardless of whether we win the double or finish mid-table. His contract will be up and I think he will have had enough.

    MURPHY OUT!!!

Im with ye on that too GWA & Colm. Im kind of surprised that so many people thought that we wernt going to loose. Have we ever beet Longford in Longford? Our best was a draw thanks to a last minute Liam O'Brien goal in the cup a few years ago if Im not mistaken. Shels next week looks dodgy aswell.

Im also of the opinion that subs would have done little + how can we drop Billy? We have no cover for him, ala Ollie, + theres always a chance that he'll have a good game which would be great.

What would people have done different to Gunther (from the start of the match)?
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

Not that it really matters anyway but was Longford that got a last minute equaliser in the the cup a few years ago.
