Looks like none of our strikers did well today, no one in the squad scored.
    Scorers were:
    Peter Gain (Peterborough)
    Alan Lee (Ipswich)
    Andy Keogh (Wolves)
    Lee Frecklington (Lincoln)
    Barry Conlon (Mansfield)
    Keith Andrews (Milton Keynes Dons)

Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here

Mc Shane had a great game today, highly involved, Did well for his goal and made a barnstorming run on goal before being hacked down for a professional foul by Gray. Looked impressive.

At this stage it's all about getting through the last club game without injury.I saw snatches of Lee Carsley on Sunday and I have never seen him look so commanding and confident.

Would it be worth considering playing McShane right back, Finnan left back and Dunne and O'Dea at Centre Backs??

Carsley had a great game yesterday against Arsenal. Even hit the bar. If he can control the area in front of the backs on Saturday that will be the key because he'll be able to break down a poor Welsh team and especially if he can pick out key passes up to Robbie and Doyle to run onto.

That was probably Stan's biggest selection mistake, not to bring him in against Cyprus. That was ****!n baffling and he was one of the in form midfielders in the premiership at the time. He may have been key in Cyprus and we now would be sitting on 8 or 10 points and in a much better situation to qualify headin to Croker.
San Marino are going to be a handful as the group goes on." - Steve Staunton reacts to performance against San Marino.

Manchester City's Academy side won their area's Premier League Academy Group, and are now in the nation semi finals, against the winners of the other 3 regional groups.
The league was won with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, with a side including Garry Breen, Karl Moore and substitutes Michael Daly and Donal McDermott.

After reaching the final of the FA Youth Cup last season, this is another honour for the academy at Man City, who do have a recent tradition of bringing academy graduates into the senior side - just this season there's been Stephen Jordan, Nedum Onuoha, Micah Richards, Joey Barton, Stephen Ireland, Ishmael Miller, Daniel Sturridge and most recently Michael Johnson. With any luck we might see more of the Irish lads in the senior set up before long.

No review on Huddersfield's site, but there's a mention of a recent call up of striker David Heagney from their academy to the Irish U-16 squad: http://www.htafc.premiumtv.co.uk/pag....html?ptvParm=

Two interesting moves as they're both highly rated players.

Blackburn's Tony Kane seems to be doing well in Belgium.

If you click on the orange ball beside each match (his first was 24th Feb) they have a fans poll at the bottom of each. He's a right back.

ive missed a couple of leicester games, i was at home for a spell, not a great deal to tell really, just the usual suspects up to their usual tricks , except for Mark Yeates returning to the starting 11 at home to q.p.r. and doing so poorly his substituion was met with the loudest cheer of the day, not good.

he was rumoured to be a loan deal with a view to a 3yr deal when he arrived, from spurs, i dont have a clue if theres any truth in this, but i do know most leicester fans now hope there isnt.

althouth definately talented, his first handfull of apperaences aptly demonstrated his ability, he has really fallen away, he needs to gather it quickly and cop on, cut out the practical joking during warm ups etc etc and put in a few decent 90's.

Garry Breen and Karl Moore were part of the Man City reserve side that beat the Oldham reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup semi final. They now go on to play Man United's reserves in the final.

Maybury on the takeover at leicester, and the coming season.from the 'bluearmy' site

    Maybury: It's now or never

    By Bill Anderson

It is "now or never" for Leicester City's squad who are playing for their very future under the Milan Mandaric regime.

With long-needed financial backing, City can expect a vast influx of new players in the summer.

City's ambitious owner will try to set a base for progress but, at the same time, it is a big challenge to those already here.

City defender Alan Maybury - who has seen it all since the Craig Levein days, through the relegation struggles through to the takeover - is under no illusion of what is now required.

He said: "There are going to be changes in the summer so you have to play well and show you want to be part of it.

"You can't just drift along and it is a case of now or never. A new man has come in with money, his own goals and ambitions which will help to drive the club forward.

"People have different ideas but you need to show you want to be part of it.

"There have not been many changes since Mr Mandaric took over, but we all know a lot is going to happen in the close season.

"The uncertainty of the takeover has been replaced by the uncertainty of what is going to happen in the summer, what direction he will be taking the club in."

This gives an added edge to the remaining eight games of the Championship season.

City are certainly looking to move onward and upwards next season, and it is up to the current crop to make sure they are not left behind.

There have been suggestions that the number of new arrivals could be in double figures, in all departments, so claims will have to be staked as much as possible until the end of the season.

But Maybury is not losing sight of the immediate tasks.

He said: "We realise we are four to six points short of what we need to guarantee our place in the division, and we have eight games left to do it in. That is the immediate target.

"There are a few of the lads in different situations, who have come here on short-term contracts. I have a year left, so we have to concentrate on those eight games first of all.

"My attitude is you work hard, make sure those points come in as quickly as possible and see what the summer brings."

I know it's been mentioned on here before but Is McGoldrick at Bournemouth (on loan from southampton) Irish too? He scored today.

Thanks, was bored in the house, had skysports.com open, and time on my hands!
What I wouldn't give for a google-type API for the skysports database, I could whip a page up like that in minutes!

Noone's really sure about McGoldrick, I'm convinced I read about him declaring for Ireland, even though he was born in England, but I can't find anything to back it up
His soccerbase profile lists him as Irish - http://www.soccerbase.com/players_de...playerid=37797 - and his wikipedia profile has him in the "people of Irish descent living in Great Britain" category - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_McGoldrick
