    leicester v plymouth 2-2

McCarthy, Maybury and Logan all played the 90 but no Irish played for the visitors in a bitty scrappy game, which despite its 4 goals will not live long in the memory, all 3 Irish lads did fine without excelling, McCarthy still playing with a mask on will be disappointed that the game will be remembered for his conceding an injury time freekick which led to plymouths equaliser for which his protests earned him a suspension inducing booking.

bit of a sour note as he had played fine, but both plymouths goals came from setpieces which the entire leicester defence is taking stick over, 3 of those 5 defenders being irish.

Logan again did ok, he did drop a couple of crosses though but got away with it, he came from on his line at one point, all the way to the edge of the area to punch taking out at least 5, maybe 6, players but he got to it.he also produced a very fine one-on-one, point saving, last seconds save from Hayles to deny plymouth the win.

i think McCarthy will now miss the visit of St.Ledgers preston on sat, bit of a shame as it would have been nice to see them both at once.

Maybury on the need for leicester to sort out the conceding from setpieces here:

Good move for him, he wasn't getting any first team games, Stephen Kelly has been the first choice right full this season

Hopefully a case of one step back and two steps forward. Mario Melchiot reckoned he was the best young player at Birmingham while he was there.

Disappointed about Painter. He's naturally a CB but has played LB for both Brum and Ireland U21. He got MOTM when Brum played Reading in FA Cup on TV last year, playing CB alongside Alex Bruce who played for Ireland B tonight.

Jim O'Brien equalised for Celtic's reserves in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock's reserves. O'Carroll and O'Dea played in defence, while Graham Carey and Cillian Sheridan were unused subs.
Tommy Coyne's son Thomas lined out for Kilmarnock.

Keith Treacy notched both goals for Blackburn reserves last night in a 2-0 win over a Sheffield United reserve side including Stephen Quinn (Alan's brother). Eddie Nolan also lined out for Rovers.

Stephen Ireland was on show for Man City's reserves in a 4-2 loss against Man United's reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup. Ireland set up City's second goal, and from the City review appears to have been their most creative player. Chris Fagan came on with 10 minutes to go for United

I saw an article from March that Chelsea have signed a 14 year old from Crumlin United named Connor Clifford. He is the youngest player to play for Ireland U16s at the age of 13. I can't remember Chelsea ever signing an Irish youth tbh.

Ronnie O'Brien is traded by Dallas to the new MLS team in Toronto:

FC Dallas on Friday sent all-star midfielder Ronnie O'Brien to Toronto FC in exchange for defender/midfielder Adrian Serioux and a second-round draft pick (14th overall) in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.
Serioux, who played for MLS Cup champion Houston Dynamo in 2006, was selected by Toronto in the MLS Expansion Draft just prior to the trade, which was the first in the Queen City club's history.

The swap ends a great deal of speculation about O'Brien and his future with FCD. The talented yet temperamental playmaker had expressed his desire to leave the Hoops on several occasions this season. Despite playing much of the year with an injured hamstring, he still managed to lead FCD with 11 assists and was named an MLS All-Star for the third straight year.

"Ronnie is a great player and certainly did some great things for FC Dallas and it's never easy to lose a player like that," said FCD President and General Manager Michael Hitchcock. "It was one of those things that Ronnie wanted a change of scenery and wanted to go somewhere new. His wife has family in Toronto. He told us that if there was a chance to do a deal there, that he would appreciate it. Anytime you can do a deal that's good for both teams and also good for the players and their families, that's a good trade all around."

FYI...Mo Johnston is Toronto FC's coach.
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.

November 17 - Good day so far for Irish Strikers

Elliot has two for Sunderland and Doyle scored again for Reading.

Stokes scores AGAIN for Falkirk in a 2-1 loss.

And Ronaldo just missed one of the easiest chances I have ever seen for Manchester United.

Now if we just had a real manager....
