Yes.
I thought it was generally accepted as the truth.
I once heard that the germans had a green away strip in respect to the irish who were the only team that would play against them after ww 2...anyone hear this???

G.O'Mahoney Trapattoni'll sort ém out!!
Yes its true. read it in the fifa history of football years ago
Myth. I sent an email to the German federation a while ago after I was told this by a Celtic fan and they said they had green away tops because the logo of the German federation is green. They´ve dumped the green away top now anyway.
Thanks gents
Old German royal colour is that weird shade of green they use, see the colour of their cop cars too. Think we were about the 4th/5th team to play them after the war. The Guardian's knowledge ddid a piece on it.

Tim Tuomey's Today FM Total Football book (try saying that late tomorrow night) does a bit on this:
"The reason the German away strip is green (and white) is actually because they were the colours of the federal state of Saxony (Dresden and Leipzig), the second most powerful in pre-War Germany. The home colours of white and black represent the state of Prussia (Berlin and Brandenburg), which was economically, politically and in footballing terms, the powerhouse in Germany before World War II.
Ireland were in fact the fifth team to play the Germans after 1945. Switzerland were first (twice), then Turkey, Austria and then Ireland - in Dublin in October 1951, a match the Irish won 3-2."
Oh, and Socrates has never even been to Dublin!![]()
I think its their third kit or something
