That's all I wanted to know.![]()
from talking to irishmackem and knowing who he is I can guarantee what he says is true. And if you actually read the thread probably you would know that he didnt mention the incident at sheff wed. The previous incident was told to me by a member of staff when I stayed in the sunderland team hotel before the sheff wed game .. make of it what you like .

Well Connolly is in as good a form as Doyle was last season from what I've seen of him and we saw Doyle starting this time last year against Sweden.
Yet all the comments on this forum suggests he is not up to international football. If you're Irish and in as rich a vein of scoring as Connolly is in, with the small pool of players Ireland have in the top tiers of football, he deserves to be at least considered ahead of a no-one like Andy Keogh (who scored a monsterous 7 goals in from 32 appeearances for S****horpe this season and is yet to score in 5 games for Wolves). How Steve Staunton can continue his idiocy to include Keogh ahead of Connolly when he names the squad for the big matches in Croker is beyond me.
And anybody saying Connolly shouldn't be included on this forum can they please tell me how Keogh deserves his place ahead of Connolly, because he seems to be the player Connolly is vying with for a place in the squad.
At 29 Connolly should be in the peak of his career.
And Elliott is out injured of the 2 games so if anyone can come up with 2 strikers that have laid down a better cause to be included in the next squad, (presuming Keane, Doyle and Stokes to be definites) please be free to go ahead with viable evidence.
San Marino are going to be a handful as the group goes on." - Steve Staunton reacts to performance against San Marino.
Well Roy speaks extremly highly of him, and if you look at his selections Connolly almost always sytarts when fit unlike Murphy and Elliot. A proven goalscorer that i would like in the squad. Personally id prefer him to Long at the moment, a bit too much is expected of Long when you realise how few games he has actually played
Connolly just scored again, and though it was a penalty, Connolly was the one who won the penalty

Oh im not holding it against him. I have always liked him and most certainly want him back in the squad
In the words of another famous Connolly....
"We believe in constitutional action in normal times. We believe in revolutionary action in exceptional times"
These are exceptional times. Bring him back.
here here. he has not done it in the past in important games but is in flying form and deserves at least a sqUAD place on current form
I
Roy Keane is in the papers today saying he thinks Connolly, Miller and Murphy should have been in the last squad. He said knowing the FAI, Miller probably wasn't called up because he's from Cork.![]()
sure miller hasnt been regularly playing for sunderland at all has he?
I
Since Kavanaghs injury Connolly has generally been a started alongside Yorke. Wasnt setting the world alight in his first couple of months there but has settled well now. hopefully keano will toughen him up a bit
You mean Miller surely.
In Trap we trust
his bench warmimg antics at united did nothing but line his wallet but at least he had the good sense to move and play unlike that other plodder oshea.
that rhymes. noice.
I
lads he isnt good enough....he has shown that time and time again for irelan, he is a championship striker end of...he is 30 now, we know he cant cut the mustard its time to move on and look to the future..In the past he has looked ridiculously out of his depth playing for ireland...
after throwing the rattle out of the pram on givens a few years ago its not the sort of attitude the irish setup needs now....
he's had his chance, the future is bright with Doyle, Stokes and Long .

You'll NEVER beat the Irish.......you'll just draw with us instead!!!
