Michael Reddy scored 2 quality goals for Grimsby at the weekend to put them top of League 2. He ran in one of the goals from well inside his own half. From what I hear he's having a great season so far and is the main reason Grimsby are top.

Yep, had a spell at Wednesday but didn't make the grade
Didnt he play with Kilkenny City at the beginning?
Yep, he did.
Forgive my naivety, but isn't Daryl Murphy one of those? Surely with his eL pedigree he should have half-a-dozen goals by now?Originally Posted by tetsujin1979

Daryl is not really a target man and is more an all round player than that.
saw Reddy's goals on ITV (The Championship) this morning.
The second one in particular was outstanding. Good luck to him ...and Grimsby town.

Well if Daryl is not considered a target man then surely there is no way we could consider Michael Reddy one. Murphy is good in the air and holds the ball up well. He's mobile for a big man. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that he hasn't had a run-out with Sunderland this season. I think Mick's conservatism (by the way I'm Mick's number 1 fan) in the Premiership may not be helping Murphy. I would have liked Murphy to have moved to a Championship club as I feel he could have been a revelation there.Originally Posted by harry crumb

League 2 is way off standard anyways IMO. I was at Leyton Orient v Wrexham on Saturday, on the way back from Prague, and I've seen better games in the eircom League First division. amazingly poor stuff, and both teams would be expected to challenge for promotion
He is playing to-night against spurs live on sky.Fifteen minutes gone and he is doing ok.
Playing well. Giving the Spurs defence a lot of problems.
The Grimsby manager Russel Slade got Conference side Scarbrough to a 3rd round
big money tie with Chelsea (lost 1:0), so I imagine Grimsby will give give Spurs
a run for their money, as they are top of league two.
He also knocked out Spurs when he was Notts County manager, has had some
big results in cup competitions, looks like he has done it again, only a few seconds left now.
Indeed he has, full time 1:0
He played a blinder tonight and i am really confused as to why he cant make it at a higher level. He has all the attributes of a good striker, big ,strong ,fast, a target man ,good with the ball and clever movement but no worries we still have the Doc.
He looked better than Robbie Keane did last night anyway.
There was little or no service to the Spurs frontmen and Keane was marginally better than Defoe. Andy Reid was substituted and he was on the ball a lot but gave it away too often.
Reddy did well and should have scored. I assume the reason he is playing in the bottom tier is that he doesn't do this consistently.
Dispite putting out strong team Spurs looked like couldn't care less if they won or not.
Jol stormed off and didn't even wait to shake the Grimsby manager's hands. He later put the defeat down to the lack of quality crosses - bad news for Andy Reid that.
