Great to see Bohs doing business early! On top of that signing players who look to have a bit of upside. Still need a natural right back and striking option but positive signings imo

Would agree with that, looked him up as totally forgot the season he was at Dundalk, it was 2021, he played 12 games and scored 2, came with a decent reputation too and was hailed a big signing, they couldn't offload him quick enough in the 2021 summer window. Have a vague memory he was an unused sub towards the end of his time with us for a good few games.

Hayden Cann is an interesting perm signing today for Dundalk, another central defender also but on loan from Doncaster, Bobby Faulkner.

The lad from Shels also on perm move today, I don't know too much about him, Jad Hakiki seems a decent option as hes still very young, but he was obviously wasn't getting too much game time at Shels.

Hakiki has talent low centre of gravity attacker he made an impressive breakthrough to the first team mid-season in 2022 then he got a nasty enough injury curtailing that season for him but after two years since endlessly coming off the bench making no impact whatsoever each time and being physically lightweight it's a case that the Shels can't wait anymore for him to develop while on the field we are fighting at a level now at the top of the league and Europe

Daly got criticism for his signings at Pats and I see 4 new signings all very young and inexperienced not exactly what you need in a relegation battle I'm not sure what Daly is expecting unless more experienced known LOI quantities are due to come in

Was really impressed with Harry Wood when he signed for Shels last season, he and Jarvis came in and they really kicked on with those two helping out Moylan. Think he nearly had a 1 in 2 record for assists in the limited time he spent in the league.

Some of the other signings around the league from the likes of Dundalk and Bohs today are less inspiring on paper but it's always impossible to know with these players until the actually get going. When I watched Cann play for Drogs this season I thought he looked good but judging from the reaction of their fans I must have only caught him on his few good days.

Not saying Cann is a massive signing, but this is just typical of LOI fans 'oh he was ****e for us' etc, same over reaction from Pats fans too while I`m on about it re SOD, now look at him, he's a no 2.

So what I like about the players signed by Bohs is that it's returning to how we built our best squads under Long. Signing young, hungry players who want a chance to play first team football brought a lot of talented players through the door at Bohs like Talbot, Leahy, Dan Casey, Danny Mandriou, Afolabi and plenty others. Sure you still get the occasional dud but it's a lot easier to get behind a young fella who's trying to kick start his career and might be having a bad game than a mid career journeyman who looks like their just here for a paycheck. The downfall of this approach was always that the wages on offer at Bohs were lower than they could get at other clubs in the league so after a solid season or 2 they signed for Rovers or Dundalk who were at their peak. That should be less of an issue now that the club has gone full time. Players will still leave of course but hopefully for a fee and across the water rather than down the M50!

Yeah it can work both ways for sure, Bohs especially have signed lads like O'Sullivan with hundreds of games behind them in England and it's not like they worked out. There's just more of a risk element behind these kinds of signings than the ones Shels (and maybe to the same extent Pats) have made as they aren't known quantities at all, but there's a lot of upside there if it turns out they're up to it.

Absolutely. Don't get me wrong if Georgie Kelly was announced for Bohs today I'd say great signing, exactly what we need etc. but as a general policy I prefer the moves we have made so far and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment among Bohs fans. There are a lot of fans who are fed up of seeing average journeymen getting a good wage from the club and would much prefer a younger team to get behind. As I said before it's a bit easier to forgive the mistakes of someone who's trying to kickstart their career and is still learning than someone who appears to be in it for the paycheck and should know better at this stage of their career. Supplement these younger signings with pros who have experience in the league like Jake Carroll (Who from the effort he put into getting back on the pitch is still a hungry player in his own right) and I think you can make a very reliable and potentially exciting team.

That is great news for Shels fans. Funny that if he hadn't had the 14 games for them on his CV already it'd look like a very underwhelming signing. Only managed to start a few games at Grimsby in the 5 months he was there.

You never know how these things work out but given how he played under Duff last year you'd have to imagine he'll get close to those levels again.

The type of player who'll make them that bit more competitive in Europe.

Good player James but it’s not a position that we are short in. If it came down to budget I’d prefer a midfielder or striker but it would still be great to see him back.

Unless we're going to ship players out ( looking at you Conor Keeley ) , or else use him at right back where we're an Axel Sjoberg hamstring away from being in bother

There was talk of Dundalk and Drogheda both wanting Keeley on loan this month but Kenny shot it down as he deemed him needed for numbers at centre back. Now that the Abankwah talk is there I’d imagine if he was to come in then Keeley would be the one to go
