Shels players all play for free because th eclub is so big and the fans are so plentiful and great.

I'm not going to speculate as to whether that's true or not, but what's your point in mentioning it? Shels get bigger gates than Rovers, don't have to pay rent to anyone, were in the Setanta Cup and have at least one round in Europe. They have the money - or at least are far far better equipped to pay it - whereas Rovers quite clearly don't.

Is he serious?

I'd bet you half the teams in the Premier dont pay them wages.

I was always thinking rovers where doing well to keep it together and fair enough Roddy got in a few decent players on a tight budget but when you see what he had to spend and where Rovers are you can see the guy should not be allowed to manage ..

I think he means that once they reduce their wage bill by half, then they'll be below three clubs.

He's still a complete spoofer - liar if you want - and I would pretty much ignore anything he says really.

Apparently enquiries were made of Roddy as to whether he had any fringe players who might come to Monaghan and he said there was none that were particulalrly good. he then alledgedly asked about sigining Jimmy Fulham from us.

Good to see he's taking the whole slash the wage bill thing seriously.

On an unrelatedish topic, apparently shells had Marc Kenny down on trial last week and were considering signing him but have gone for Alan Reynolds instead. Couldnt believe Fenlon was interested in him.

I wouldnt get to smug on the wage front, after your signings for the summer i would reckon a bad result in europe and ye will have to make a few cuts
