Sligo were toothless there. They're miles better than them, but didn't really create anything. A lot of attacks broke down with Cretaro.

Considering the result thats a bit of a backhanded insult to Sligo.

Two bad teams. Agree with the comment about things breaking down when it got to Raff. Only ourselves to blame though if we don't go through from here. Been in this situation before though and been put out (albeit by a much better team)

Thought it was a pretty poor game, albeit with small passages of decent passing. The miss from the corner about 20 minutes from the end was an absolute shocker, but nevertheless, most important thing is Sligo didn't concede and it's given them every chance of progressing with a home win.

Two games for LOI teams in Europe, and no loss. It's a decent start. Up to Derry now to improve further.

    LOI in Europe Stats update:

First time since 2008, LOI teams kept 2 clean sheets in a row AWAY; Olimps (Latvia) 0-1 St. Patrick's Athletic & Levadia (Estonia) 0-1 Drogheda United.
In total, that was the 29th clean sheet AWAY & 93rd in total.
If Derry can keep a clean themselves, it will be the first time since July 2004, LOI teams kept 3 clean sheets in a row, Cork City actually were involved in all 3 vs. Malmo (AWAY) & NEC (HOME & AWAY)
On the flipside, it was 240th occasion in which a LOI team has failed to score, 137th time AWAY.
In relation to the Derry match, A team representing Wales has never won a match against a LOI team in Ireland.

It's the 3rd season in a row which that has happened.

A Derry lose tonight won't change that

At the risk of re-opening the usual can of worms, I thought Sligo struggled with the pitch at times.

I guess it's a bit of a disappointing result given Banga aren't any great shakes in Lithuania at all. But at least it's not a loss.

Curious game in Estonia btw - Santos Tartu 0-7 Tromso. A rare - possibly a first? - European game between two second division sides.

It'd be worrying if our sides were consistently losing these opening round fixtures, given the lowly standard of the opposition.

To be honest, Banga looked like they were struggling with it too. Their finishing was abysmal.

From the stats and match reports, it seems as though Sligo were very wasteful when it came to taking their chances. Hope they can put them away next week. Didn't realise the game was a 4pm KO, so didn't see the game. Does anyone who watched the stream have an opinion as to how they'd see the 2nd leg going?

After watching the game I anticipate a comfortable game for Sligo, they controlled the game and Banga resorted to counter-attacks once they realised how good SLigo were.. it was funny listening to the commentators.. completely biased men! playing down Sligo big time.. they changed their opinion fair fast at least ^^

I'd go with 2-0 Sligo. They edged it earlier and I can see them winning with home advantage over a fairly poor team.

I thought the game was later myself, for some reason. I think I'd seen a European kick-off time, rather than a UK/Irish one, somewhere. Thankfully, my brother kept me right with a text at 3:30.

Banga could have had a few goals, but their attacks never really worried me as they had such a habit of making a hames of them; chronic inability to finish. I think Sligo, despite being wasteful too, will have enough for them at home on more familiar ground.

I think this was a decent result but I didn't see any of it, however reading reports Banga didn't sound the best. This means it would appear unlikely they can score an away goal, still 0-0 away draws can be tricky, but hopefully they'll go through.

It certainly puts the tie in a nice position to attract a big crowd for the 2nd leg.

Did Sligo deserve to win the match?
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

They seem to get a Faroese team every campaign.
