I had been under the impression it was a combination of wanting to contribute to their adopted country where they had made good lives and also the competition for a CB spot in the Irish side at the time being greater than that in the English side. I could be remembering wrongly on both of these though.

19 year old Donegal man Carl McHugh is playing centre half for Bradford today in the League Cup semi final with Aston Villa. Given and Clark start for Villa with Stevens, Carruthers, Ireland and Burke on the bench.

Bullet header from McHugh...remember when he was playing for Swindon Supermarine.

Keith Andrews and Andy Keogh both with penalties for their respective clubs in the same game.

And the boy in the striped pyjamas has scored again for Yeovil.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Cracking record by Madden this season. He's bagged 11 in League One since moving to Yeovil at the start of October. He's just starting his third calendar year in England and things are looking rather more bright for him, in comparison to this time last year. I know Yeovil's finances are highly limited so they must have signed him for a relatively nominal fee. If he keeps this up until the season's end then they'll see quite a rapid return on their investment. He's 23 in March.

According to Goal.com, Fulham have signed 'Cameroon-born wonderkid' Noe Baba. They've paid Castlebar Celtic in County Mayo €160,000 for the 16-year-old, apparently

Holy feck, that's more than most LOI sides fetch for a player. Just goes to show, you don't ask, you won't get.
