Christ of almighty, must get the guitar out and do something about this ;P

I've been playing around on the guitar a bit and come up with what I think is a sort of Celtic sounding riff that could work in a song...sort of influenced by Thin Lizzy's Black Rose (which I think would be a great one to cover for a football song). Here it is in tab form (I could record it to give an example of tempo but it wouldn't sound very good...well, it may not sound very good anyway).
Code:------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----7-8p7--------------------------10-12p10------------------------------------------------------------ 7/9-------9-7---------7-9,----9/12----------12-9-----9--------------------9-7-----------------7---7h9-- --------------9---7-9-----------------------------12---12-9,---9-7----7-9-----9,----9-7-5-7/9---9------ -------------------------------------------------------------------10---------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Em G B D
Anyway I can't sing at all and my "band-mates" (a.k.a. the guys I sometimes play with) are thousands of miles away...plus I have been referred to by more than one as "musically retarded" so me doing anything on my own would not be good. If anyone would be up for collaborating on something (obviously not physically playing together but more on an input basis) I would definitely be up for it though, can play guitar and decent amount of piano. I know some other members here who are in bands as well.

too many to embed
Which ones? The last one has nothing to do with football, the first one maybe could be classed as not terrible, but honestly the one padjoe posted may be the best of the bunch and though it has a sort of catchy guitar riff its pretty cringe-worthy otherwise. As bad as many of these songs have been historically I think with YouTube we could see a whole new level of ****. I think some people tend to give credit for these things just because they "couldn't do better" but that doesn't make it laudable.

Right......give me a week. I'll have something posted up better than anything above. ;P
Can I request that it not be any more of this one guy and his acoustic crap? People seem to think they're going to write the next Joxer but they're not and no one has even come within the the vicinity of the ballpark of doing so. If it is one of those, and you can pull it off, fair ****s to you. Look at me, I must be sounding like I think I'm a music critic...I should note that I'm just a cynic who has basically never heard a song from an artist/group who got their start after the millennium that appeals to him.

The official anthem will be a lyrical rewrite of the 'Rocky Road to Dublin', with the working title 'Rocky Road to Poland'.http://www.todayfm.com/Shows/Weekday.../Euro2012.aspx
This Wednesday 22nd February, we will dedicate most of the show to writing our song for Euro 2012.
We've chosen to rewrite the lyrics to 'Rocky Road to Dublin', with the working title 'Rocky Road to Poland'. So if you want to send us a line or even a few lines that you think will fit into the melody/theme of the song, please get in touch. You can email your lyrics to
euro2012@todayfm.com
In studio on Wednesday will be some of the musicians that we've gathered to play on the record - Damien Dempsey (famous for his recording of Rock Road) and The Coronas' Danny.
Nicked from another place...
Rocky Road to Poland
T’was in the merry month of June, from our home we started,
Left old Eireann’s Isle, to Poland we departed,
Hope within our hearts, we can win the trophy,
We are all a part of Trappatoni’s army,
Get behind the team, hear the Irish scream,
C’mon you boys in green, Ireland’s bouncing back again,
We have got our Trap, the cat is in the sack,
We’ll not forget you Jack, On the rocky road to Poland.
One, Two, Three, Four, Five,
Irish eyes are smiling,
Let your voices ring
Trappatoni’s army,
Everybody sing.
You’ll never beat the Irish x 4
Make your mother proud, inflate your plastic hammer,
Bate your bodhrán loud and learn your Polish grammar,
Credit Union loan, sold the Opel Corsa,
Hired a camper van, picked it up in Warsaw,
Been so close before, hopes slammed in the door,
Now we’re back for more, we can win the battle,
C’mon you boys in green, never have we seen,
Such a fearless team, on the rocky road to Poland.
One, Two, Three, Four, Five,
Irish eyes are smiling,
Let your voices ring
Trappatoni’s army,
Everybody sing.
You’ll never beat the Irish x 4
Ireland Abú. We love.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.
The rhyming of 'plastic hammer and Polish grammar' indicates a large degree of desperation!
A small change, so everybody is included - even absent friends...
Make your mother proud, inflate your plastic hammer
Bate your bodhrán loud, it’s Stephen Ireland’s grandma
Premiership moan, hairless – even more so
Hired a camper van, pinked it up in Warsaw...
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!
