Goal McClean! Calamitous stuff as I think it was Mertesacker goes down awkwardly as he receives a back pass, McClean seizes on it, surges down the left, and fires the ball low across Szczesny in to the far corner. Fair play advocates may not like that one.

I wonder if Trap is correcting that squad list he released in error?

Excellent goal from a narrow angle, keepers do not expect to get beaten from there.

    Arsenal got one back.

    How did he play?

Leaving him out is a very bold call by Trap. Coleman and Hunt had better hope they're fit in May /June.

Goal here, great finish, no fear. Mertesacker's fall was so awkward. He seems to be clutching his shin, I wonder what he injured.
End Apartheid Now! One Team in Ireland!

Took his goal very well, had no right to score really the goal was a real bonus/
Difficult to watch on a crappy stream but he seemed to have a decent game but Arsenal had
the ball much of the time.
I expect he will be man of the match for Sunderland or thereabouts.
Got his goal from a narrow angle near the angle of the 6 yard box with a defender on him top strikers sort of gaol.

He had a decent enough game. Couple of sloppy passes but for the most part when he got the ball he was really positive. If i was to compare him to McGeady now i'd say he's not as fast but his end product seems much stronger at the moment. The two could probably learn a lot from eachother.

With Coleman still injured (I think) i wonder why he's in the friendly squad

he had an average game but took his goal extremely well. He is certainly more effective in the top third of the pitch than anywhere else. Pitch was atrocious though, i was surprised by that.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

McClean wasn't to know the extent of Mertesacker's injury after he'd raced past him. Anyway, it's the ref's job to stop play, so play to the whistle. Great finish.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but a Sunderland fans made a song of how great he thinks McClean is:

Yep, for all McClean knew he just slipped...just saying I know some will be arguing he shouldn't have carried on.

Goal here, not in very good quality http://www.footygoalsoccer.com/epl-s...011-02-12.html
Can't say I really noticed what happen with the guy I just saw McClean getting on the ball.
There is no way McClean could have been expected to stop play in that situation it just look like he slipped or something,
there was no contact or anything to suggest he was injured. Dunno what was up with him but often those sort of injuries
turn out to be quite serious. It's really weird the way he went down, his heel seem to flick up really high.
Looks like he took an arrow to the knee.

I think he is on 4 now, definite 3 anyway.

Actually it 4, but one of those is FA Cup. So 4 from 10 appearances, 3 of those were as a sub.
That is some strike rate if he keeps it up.

I'm saying if McClean keeps this form up it'll be very hard to leave him out of the Ireland squad. Not many players try harder than Hunt, but on current form it'd be a shame if Hunt went and McClean didn't.
