Some comments from Bilic after watching us last night in Budapest: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...317296827.html
Croatia are a naturally confident team. Bilic took time off to watch us play in Hungary, whereas which one of our management team went to watch Croatia play in Oslo? Bilic does his preparation and is taking nothing for granted - even our 4-4-2
It's clear that both managers are targeting this first game and letting the other games take care of themselves.

McGeady quoted on SSN saying that the players were tired going into last night's game as training has been really hard. He says the players will struggle to be 100% fresh for Sunday.
Some great mind games coming out of the Irish camp. I hope.
On the formation change thing, I don't think Trap has any intention of changing from a 4-4-2, I think the 2nd half showed something of how he'll deal with being outnumbered in midfield in future games, when we were defending McGeady was tucking in more and Cox in particular, when he was on, was coming right back defending the flank. It actually helped to get McGeady on the ball more too when we won posession back. It converted back to a conventional 4-4-2 immediately when we were building from the back.

It's understandable there'd be possibly heavy training last week, in the lead up to Sunday and the tournament, it'd be normal for that to be lighter this week.

A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.
Trap might try the 1-10-0 formation or the 1-9-1 formation to stop attackers getting between the two banks of 4 in the 4-4-2 formation.
I can't see Trap changing too much to be honest but he had better have a ploy to stop this weakness in his system.
Walters probably would be ths best option in 1-9-1 formation though as he has a bit of everything. Reasonably big, Reasonably fast, Reasonably good in the air, Reasonably good at holding the ball up, Reasonably good at getting a shot off even if isolated. He is the man for the old 1-9-1. Trap you heard it here first.
thats a reasonably well made point.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Even if by convention 1-9-1 and 1-10-0 mean we have 12 players on the pitch.
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?
Paul Green doesnt count as a player though, surely?

Some great pics here. The lads must be pumped. I like those Polish cheerleaders in pic no. 6.

Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr8Q0yV6OJs Found this gaming simulation of the Ireland v Croatia match. Won't ruin it for anyone by giving away the score. They have one for every game in the first round.
