Stephen Henderson missed Portsmouth's game today as he was in talks and has signed a 3 year deal for West Ham. The deal starts next season

West Ham are supposedly after Craig Gordon after he was released by Sunderland, with QPR apparently looking to replace Paddy Kenny with the vastly inferior Rob Green. Not sure if that's good or bad, possibly good considering Gordon's injury-plagued career to date.

West Ham have signed Jussi Jääskeläinen to further Henderson's competition

Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here
Can see Henderson replacing Jääskeläinen during the season. The veteran had a torrid time with Bolton last season.

Did'nt Bogdan play mostly for Bolton last year.
If Henderson could keep an in form and fit Jaskelineen out of the West Ham team then he will be playing well.
Gave away a penalty as West Ham are on the end of a 4-1 pasting from Wigan. The goal reports don't suggest he covered himself in glory.
According to The Sun, he is going on a 3 month loan to Ipswich. Good to see an Irish goalkeeper getting a game!
Ipswich seem to have turned the corner in terms of results, great to see Henderson getting consistent game time. Can anyone tell me how well he is playing at the moment?
Unfortunately I don't think he's set the world on light at Ipswich. It must be nerve wracking playing behind that defence. He played in the 6 nil and 5 nil away defeats and didn't cover himself in glory. However thing seem to be changing lately and maybe Mick can help him rediscover his confidence.

Could be on his way to Blackburn in part-exchange for Paul Robinson. Strange one that, he appears not to have made the grade.
Not a great start for Henderson at Bournemouth, conceding 2 goals in the first ten minutes at home to Milwall. David Forde in goal at the other end, happily.

Ipswich interested.
He's on £20,000 a week supposedly. Must have a good agent..
20k pw and never played a game for West Ham... It's some sport!
Well said. Crazy business. In fairness, looking at Green and our pal SSL he knows he's on a good number and the money ain't really there in the lower leagues anymore.
It's a shame that good Irish talent will fail to achieve potential because of skewed financial incentives. Maybe it'll all come out in the wash in a few years when pay at most levels of the game normalise due to FFP style rules. The elite will still be minted but the second tier will no longer be earning silly money.
Brighton showing interest in Henderson.

Charlton now interested too in taking him on loan. A deal on his massive wages seems likely too. A million a year for sitting on the bench is amazing!

Move to Charlton confirmed, hopefully another starting goalkeeper this coming season.

Has Henderson got the potential to be better than Forde and Westwood are now? It appears that all 3 will be plying their trade as first choice in the Championship, along with Darren Randolph and, hopefully, Joe Murphy (although he'll have a job in displacing the ever-present Alex Smithies there). Rob Elliott and Brian Murphy are almost certain to be second choice for their respective sides, so a lack of regular football detracts from the level of consideration they'd be given, I would imagine.
So, on the basis that our first choice keeper is most likely to come from the Championship and were the five above I mentioned to all be playing regularly, who'd be the preference? I still think Forde deserves the jersey and has done well but Henderson is highly-rated and still only 26. Given that Henderson is likely to be playing as regularly as Forde at the same level then his claims are legitimate to start.
I'd imagine that Martin O'Neill will be frequenting some of those Championship grounds over August. A month is probably still not enough time for the hopefuls to displace Forde.
Will he be first choice here though ? It would be great if he was but didn't they sell their back up keeper, Hamer to Leicester City. Who else is there ?
