Not sure if it was posted here yet but Rovers game is on Setanta Ireland tomorrow from 4.30. 4.45 kick off.
This would be great and I wonder if there would be some way of luring them in. Probably a name change would be necessary, NW ROVERS or something that would allow them to cross county boundries. Colours are good cos non county. This could provide a population of maybe 250000. 100000 seat stadium, biggest club in country. All joking aside they should try to encourage more outside county fans , would be a very good thing. If they could win the league then encourage the schoolkids.
It will almost certainly be streamed.
If you have eircom as your internet provider, you can get it here:

Drop the Rovers bit, and call it "Connacht United". With 250,000 people based in it's "smallest catchment area", it appeals to almost everyone in the region.Originally Posted by harleyleeds

Keep Tallaght Tidy, Throw your rubbish in the Jodi
Ten Years Not Out
All this talk of catchment areas neglects the fact that all clubs are fighting a losing battle with Manchester United and Liverpool. Sligo do brilliant for a town of 20,000 people.
Ohh jesus.
From the makers of "no direct bus from Tallaght to Phibsborough" and "real fans from sligo would fly to Dublin" we now have why people from mayo, donegal, roscommon and leitrim should support a team based in Sligo Town.
Mypost you are a credit to humanity.
Also go easy on harleyleeds since he is clearly a sockpuppet.
I was only there Sunday night. The reason for missing my flight and a days pay as a contractor.
Looking at those goals against Pats, reminds me of how I have always thought our football teams(clubs and international) have always been made up of midgets...or at least though who wouldn't be considered average sized males at home. Those kazaks almost look like giants against some of them....
That must be a worry for Pats on the home game, set pieces, corners/free kicks etc. Not that they are midgets i mean. Looks like they are dangerous in this area, especially given the height difference.
Looking at that video also reminded me of looking at something from 80's esque soviet-russia.

I see this is Mannus' last game for Rovers as he leaves for St Johnstone.
Why is he leaving for St Johnstone?
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Mypost is just wumming.
his reaction was to my comment which said:-
"Still my comments of admiration twoards the Sligo Rovers fans stand and considering they have possibly the smallest population catchment area in the PD they can well be described as the leagues best. "
This of course has exceptions and you would be top of that list.
No danger you were up in the Showgies helping them prepare for the euro game , to busy trying to put people down to make yourself feel better .
Go offer your help and youll find the world a better place as all your nastiness flows away.

A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.
There's no real comparison between the footballing infrastructure in Ireland and Scotland. Better grounds, bigger crowds, probably bigger wages and the fact it mightn't hurt his international chances are a bonus

Thanks Dodge, I know there isn't a comparison infrastructure wise, but I'm still surprised.
Rovers at the top here, and should be for a good time to come, and with probably constant European football, why move when he's approaching 30
But St Johnstone??? maybe it is the International he's thinking of, but surely he's going to be behind Camp now anyway?Originally Posted by The Irish Times
