I bet nobody wants to play in it, who would? Halfway through your holiday. Joke of a friendly.

If it's fringe players, as appears likely, they should all want to play in it. Whoever doesn't should reconsider their international future.

The alternative is the fringe players never getting a look in, and when injuries occur having them short of first team experience.
The last tour was derided as a joke, yet people still cling to the belief that Stephen O'Halloran may still come good purely based on his performances in the two games.
If the games in the States unearths another centre half, and maybe an alternative in centre midfield, it will have been a worthwhile experiment IMO

I was supposed to be going to NY from 8th-13th June. We changed the dates to 22nd-27th because a friend is repeating Leaving Cert Irish sometime during the original dates. I'm a bit disgusted now to hear of the date for the Italian match (and the fecker still hasn't even booked his flights!!)

Meanwhile, although not officially confirmed, it’s looking increasingly likely that the proposed summer friendly in the USA between Ireland and Italy will now take place on June 11 in New Jersey in the new 82,000-seater Meadowlands Stadium.
I would much prefer if they play at the new Red Bull Arena in Harrison, capacity 25K. The last one against Ecuador was about 20K.

Interestingly enough, I just checked the NY Red Bulls schedule, their Sat Jun 11 game has been moved to Fri Jun 10....

"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.

I'd say its more likely to unearth another Joe Lapira, or at most an American version of Paul Green.

I was there when Spurs played last year. Nice ground. I'm sure the agency organising the game is looking for 40,000 to 50,000.And I was told today it might be part of a double header with the Ireland v Italy game as the second game.

I doubt they would get near that much if it is just Ireland-C v Italy-C. Not sure who they'll get for the other game as USA, Mexico and the rest of Concacaf will be playing in the Gold Cup that starts June 5. Maybe some South American teams. Spain will be stateside on June 4 playing the US at the Razor.

Might be good to give Jermaine Pennant a run out to see how committed he is during his summer holidays!
