This tournament is on in between the 1st and 2nd legs of our 1st European game so regardless of having confidence whether we'll progress, we're not gonna have players available for the tournament.

Am I imaging it but did Dundalk ask for their players to be exempt from the game against Man. Utd? If teams with small squads, which is everyone really, starts doing this and combined with teams in Europe, then the pool of players to pick could be extremly small.

From what I remember the players weren't insured for the Manchester United game last year. Might be different this time round. I assume the PFAI will have negotiated an appearance fee for the players but I think most will just be eager to face world class opposition.

Ill go back to what i said before, players will have booked there weeks holiday for the mid-week break long ago, be interesting to see if there are many pull-outs due to "injuries" when Rico picks his squad for this one!

True. It is a good chance for all the players involved to raise their profile and make a name for themselves if they've full confidence in their own abilities.

I wouldn't be writing on Pat's. Second in the LoI Premier and from what I can see guaranteed being seeded for rounds 1 & 2, they should be confident of making the 3rd round.
