I think it should be renamed the Dublin super duper cup HD
....... phew, not that I expect Bohs will have too many in any LOI selectbut after the man ure debacle our FAI overlords have obviously decided that the Irish League are more likely to drag our "football loving nation" off those bar stools than those LOI peasants that let us down against Rooney et al !
On a positive note, they got the names of Inter Milan, Celtic and Man City right![]()
I hope the XI do better than last season. I also hope the XI have no player from our European representatives, as all going well they will be enjoying a good run in Europe!
What I saw as a good read from last year on the fans of them across the water:

We should be in the middle of our European games. So none of our lads involved with a bit of luck.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
As my friend pointed out to me yesterday after seeing the somewhat hyperbolic description of the tournament on the official website, spot the odd two out:
"Some of the World Class players on show will include Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o, David Silva, Scott Brown and Anthony Stokes."
Ah but there was a long time I only half paid attention to what was going on around here.
It's good to see they'll have a week together this time. It at least means they'll be able to put some basic systems together and avoid the shapelessness that Man Utd exploited so easily.
Assuming Sligo and Shamrock Rovers won't be involved, and perhaps not Bohemians either, it'll be mainly a mix of Dundalk, Derry, Bray and Pats (I'd expect them to be out of Europe by then) players, with one or two UCD players perhaps. This might actually be better than last year's team, which was largely made up on experienced campaigners who were overrun by their younger, fitter opponents. There are some cracking young players in all of those teams, many of whom will probably end up across the water in the next couple of years.
A young side with the McEleneys, McMillans, Kearns, Hector, Murphy, etc. plus a few more experienced heads in Mulcahy, Zayed, Dempsey and Quigley could be quite competitive.
How much are tickets?
I wouldnt be that confident that any LOI sides would still be in Europe then, unless Rovers & Sligos 1st gameson at the same time.
The sooner league fans realise they are following a niche sport, like hockey or basketball the better. All this converting the uninitatiated malarky is time lost enjoying your own teams existence.
Celtic me hole.
If the managers and players of Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers, Pat's and Boh's have full confidence in themselves, they won't be expecting to have any part to play in the Dublin Super Cup. I'd see it as a psychological own goal if any of the players were to take part in a training camp while they are still involved in Europe. If Richardson thinks the same, he should not be calling up any of them out of respect while their respective clubs are involved in Europe.
Richardson for now has Derry City, Bray Wanderers, Dundalk, UCD, Drogheda, Galway United and the First Division to pick from. Despite clubs being involved in Europe at that time, I support having an Airtricity XI. The players involved in European competition will gain good experience there. The best players of the clubs not involved in Europe will gain a good experience from the Dublin Super Cup.
Of the 6 Premier clubs Richardson has to choose from, for now, I'd imagine the players of Derry, Bray and Dundalk will be to the fore. As it stands, what is the best XI/squad of players from the clubs not involved in Europe?

Am I imaging it but did Dundalk ask for their players to be exempt from the game against Man. Utd? If teams with small squads, which is everyone really, starts doing this and combined with teams in Europe, then the pool of players to pick could be extremly small.
