The last page of this thread has had me in stitches.

Excellent article to have, the day after the Cup Final.
Bizarre article to come out the day after Chelsea got slaughtered 3-0 at home by a mid-table team too. You'd think a sub-ed would have twigged that and changed it, but I guess you could apply that to any of their hundred-or-so poorly researched articles per day.

I'd have had a dig about the apostrophe.

Removing the apostrophe wouldn't make it right.

No, it would make it misspelled.

Hmm... Seeing as Man U, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool have all had games in which they've failed to score in the last 8 days, I hope for his sake he follows Arsenal!

Going to vent here with possible accusations of being paranoid but I hate the way that the word domestic is used to describe League of Ireland - i.e a great day for domestic football in Ireland. In my mind it's used by people who don't want to use "Irish football" to describe the league. This in my opinion wouldn't happen in an other country.

I think most people just use them interchangeably. It also differentiates the league from the national side.

A little conversation I had with someone once:

Me: What GAA teams do you follow and why ?
S: O'Mahony's and Meath, cause I am from Navan in Meath
Me: What rugby teams do follow and why ?
S: Leinster and Ireland, again, cause I live in Meath which is in Leinster.
Me: What soccer teams do you follow and why ?
S: Man Utd and Ireland, cause I am Irish.
Me: but Man Utd are not Irish ???
    S: Ehhh

At least you got the "ehh" at the end instead of the "They're an Irish club playing in England" bull, sometimes with the added "they were the catholic club in X city". Because nothing says Irish like an Italian interpretation of Middle-Eastern Superstitions!

Did you ever tell a 'Celtic' fan that Man Utd were the first British Side to win the European Cup?

Its great craic, especially when they correct you. 'Oh thats right, I forgot Celtic were British'
'I can live with disappointment, its the hope I cant handle'

I can't wait to try this one out. I reckon with the right mixture of feigned confusion and naivety I could draw it out for 10 minutes.

The teuwl had another one today which ended almost the same way but as I have to run I will divulge it once I finish taxiing the better half.

    Edit:

Me: Did you watch the game last night?
Teuwl: Nope didn't see it, was it any use?
M: It was an awful result overall but there were some good things to come out of it.
T: Yeah, yeah, sounded pretty awful yeah. What did you think of England getting beaten?
    Me: *rolled eyes*
