We should be attempting a long term view of this. Gates will be affected initially but If the games are picked right then people will want to go them after watching the product consistently over a period of time.
Don't disagree with your thinking but all clubs are in desperate straights and simply can't afford to give up as much gate money as they're being asked to do (by moving games).

My own preference is for the TV game to be on a Saturday evening (with a highlights show built into the 45 minutes or so pre-game show (apologies for the American))

The highlights of the previous night's action?

So every LOI game (or PD, at least), kicks off on Friday night, and there's 45 minutes of highlights of those games in the build-up to the live game on the Saturday night and the only game that is ever played on a Saturday night is the game that's on TV?

I like the sound of that myself.

I know sense never comes into anything like this but wouldn't it make more sense for the Bohs match to be on the Sunday seeing as Sligo fans have further to travel? They did the same thing last season and made Waterford play up in Sligo on a Friday night and Fingal / Bray play on a Sunday afternoon

Like that idea Dodge. Makes it a once a week "big event". And we all know how much us Irish love those!

I can't understand that myself. We'll still bring a good few but it would be easier for people to travel on the Sunday.

At this stage I think RTE are just attempting to make Pete Mahon's head explode.

Wonder what the crowd for that game will be like? The cup match was over 1,000 below the Pats average attendance this season. That's a lot of money to be missing out on and I presume the RTE fee isn't coming close to covering that

5 minutes for a lengthy and in-depth preview show.

why not 7.35 or 8.05, i dont know...
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Which clubs have not been on live yet this season? UCD and Bray spring to mind, were Drogheda on yet? Everyone else has been on from what I recall.

There's a summary earlier in the thread, DeNiro. It's just us and Bray alright.
