I havn't seen any matches in Group 1.
I wouldn't give up on Group 2 just yet, it's true FC Carlow have got three lovely wins against the Premier Division Dublin reserve sides and they're still out of the top three, but I think the three First team clubs will finish in the top six in that group, it leaves a little room for one of them to finish in the top three. Although, in Limerick, UCD and St. Pat's they're up against.
Galway Utd. 0:8 UCD
Stephen Doyle was superb again yesterday on a beautiful summers day for watching football. He got the first goal with the first attack, Samir Belhout scored after blocking down the Galway 'keeper after three minutes. Doyle got the third a little later and his hat-trick came after 40 minutes, Belhout got number 5 just before the break.
Galway put on Daragh Geraghty (sp?) and made a great stop immediately from Belhout and Karl Moore put the follow-up over the bar.
Greg Bolger ran allow the Galway touchline and flicked to Michael leahy who headed number 6, Graham Rusk benefitted from a defensive mix-up and got number 7. Karl Moore weaved his magic and slipped in full-back David O'Connor for the final goal.
Gerathy still saved from a Graham Rusk penalty at the death.
Lovely performance, Lovely result, Lovely to look out at the NUI Galway's stadium, but it we still have to beat the teams near us to have a chance of the number one spot in the group.
Plenty of families who were up at Sligo and made a weekend of it and also some fans made the trip from Dublin.
" I'll go right up to here,
it can't possibly hurt.
All they will find is my
beer and my shirt."
