...and possible recruit Pennant on the right of midfield. Super work from him for the 3rd goal. Second best player of the day behind Etherington for Man of the Match according to the viewers poll on ESPN. Would be a decent addition.

Walters scores! Great run and curls it into the far corner. Had just missed a sitter too.

Brighton beat Walsall 3-1 and Gary Dicker has his second promotion in four seasons, this time with a league winner's medal.

former prospect (originally at Aston Villa), John McGrath, nets one for Burton Albion tonight.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

A relation of Harry Kane (plays for Tottenham on loan to Leyton Orient & a 17 year old striker with a lot of potential) said on another Irish message board that Harry's grandfather is Irish. FAI should check it out.

Micxhael Quirke, Jeff Kendrick, Sean Murray, Ronan Murray, Kieron Cadogan and David McAllister - some of our young players who got a run at the weekend. Does anyone know if Drury at Ipswich has any Irish blood? Chambers and Gerrard also scored. Unfortunately with Scunthorpe and Sheffield Utd going down quite a number of Irish players will be playing at a lower level!

As promised, bookings added to the twitter feed: https://twitter.com/#!/irish_abroad
Really proud of this actually, all goals, bookings and sendings off are tweeted as they happen, and tagged with the "#irishabroad" hashtag
A few events have been missed (e.g. David Connolly's goal at the weekend) but this will be fixed by next week
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

Thanks for all the effort tets,I've looked for similar stats from other countries, i.e. brazil who'd be much more travelled than ourselves, and there's nothing like it. Thanks for the good job and continue the good work.

Irish Abroad stats for April 2011: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=4
Reading's Ian Harte and Shane Long continued their winning streak from March topping the wins table, with Stephen McPhail, with 5 wins
Harte and Long also started the most games in April, along with Preston's Keith Treacy, lining out in the starting XI 8 times
As well as this, Long topped the goalscoring charts in April, scoring 3 times along with Jonathan Walters
To cap an impressive month for Long, Reading won both games that he scored in, an honour shared with Harte, David Norris and Anthony Stokes
Impressively, Harte and Long completed 90 minutes in each game, while Treacy's 4 substitutions made him the most substituted player in the fourth month of 2011
Joe Murphy, Alan Maybury, Michael Doyle, Stephen Quinn and Treacy all reflected their respective team's poor form by finishing April top of the losses league. Each player finished on the losing side 4 times
Stephen Elliott topped the draws table with 5 games finishing all square
Jon Daly, Willo Flood (making his comeback from injury) and Jeff Hendrick (making his debut for Derby) all came off the bench 3 times to top the introductions table
Michael Quirke, Shane Duffy and Gary Deegan remained on the subs bench more times than any other players in April
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

A while back a contributor on here posted that Cadogan had Irish heritage and was eligible to play for us. From there,I have just gone ahead and jumped the gun!

Everton are trying to sell Yakubu to Leicester for 2mill. Could help them raise the money to buy Shane Long. Liverpool supposedly interested in buying James McCarthy - this story seems to keep appearing in the tabloids.
