Talking of Huddersfield - the game was on five live today & Anthony Pilkington received rave reviews for his all round performance, together with suggestions that there was a lot of interest in him from teams in the high leagues.

Do you mean like the Scottish Highland League, I think that would be a step down.

just found the stats section on thefreekick.com: http://thefreekick.com/blog/irish-soccer-database/
didn't know they used irish abroad as a reference, and it's nice that that they included an acknowledgement.
if anyone knows someone associated with the site, please pass on my thanks

Kilbane was great today in the centre of the park. He won't be short of tackling practice anyway, he was getting right stuck in and was booked. He was up against James o'Connor who I think won a cap and Clinton Morrison was playing for Wednesday so the standard in League 1 of the teams in the top half is pretty good. It wouldn't overly concern me that he's playing there really.

Anthony Pilkington is getting better every season and is still only 22, 23 in the summer. He's scored some crackers this season and is well worth keeping an eye on. The fact he's come from non-league (though he wasn't there for long) and has continued to improve each year is a good sign in my opinion.

As to whether Pilkington could step up another level or two, some views from Town fans:

pilks has bags of talent. if he can become consistent (should happen with age) then i have no doubt he can play at the top level - for a club like bolton/blackburn.

he has skill, 2 feet, bit of speed, good set piece, good cross, eye for goal..

long way to go obviously but if he works super hard he has the potential.

Agree with this, if he can consistently show he can rip a fullback to shreds then I think he could reach the bottom half of the Premier League. I just hope over confidence/selfishness doesn't kick in.

Look at Jarvis for Wolves, he made his name at Gillingham in this league and is now linked with top half PL sides. Pilks can play a narrow role AND on both wings quite well too which the likes of Jarvis can't.

Yeah, on his day, he could easily play for Ireland. Of all the goals he's scored this season, I can't recall an unspectacular one. The lad is blessed with talent.
In all honesty he should be a top championship player and has an outside chance of playing in the premiership.

Only his second goal this year after a promising season in the Championship last year. He has found starts hard to come by but that could change as Plymouth need to off load players to pay off debts and Bradley Wright-Phillips is highly sought-after

    Here is Pilkingtons goal

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot..._2/9338410.stm its after 45 seconds but there are bits of him in action throughout, and a disallowed goal from Morrisson.

His Wiki page says he didnt even realise he was eligable and thad he could still switch back. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Pilkington

A freind of mine is a regular at Huddersfield and speaks very well of him, really rates him and said Middlesborough tried to get him in the last window and expects interest again this time.

Ex-Bohs trainee Matt Doherty to start for Wolves in defence against Doncaster today. He's had a rapid rise since signing in the summer - featured on the bench a number of times.

U18 midfielder Michael Harriman (or Harryman, according to Sky Sports) on the bench for QPR

    <EDIT>

Michael O'Halloran on the bench for Bolton, anyone know if he's Irish? Can't find anything on fai.ie, or thefa.com, about his nationality
Seems to be a winger according to the reports from Bolton's reserve games

He is Scottish. Surely has Irish blood in there though.
