So does confirm Fenlon as worse than Matthews when it comes to being way out of depth when 'competing' in Europe?

    already achieved.

You gotta admire the optimism if nothing else.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Depressing, even worse than Shels result to that Maltese crowd a few years back. A real opportunity missed.

To be fair to Bohs I only chuckled at the result from Wales. I absolutely wet myself when Hibs scored in Tolka.

    Good, petty, times

This is without a shadow of a doubt the worst European Cup/Champions League defeat ever. At least Chisnau had 6-7 internationals in their squad, even if they were Moldovan.

Extremely embarassing result for Bohs, ultimately its the end product of what I, and many other LoI fans and clubs have been talking about for years.

Shamrock Rovers made no profit last year. We had crowds far in excess of what Bohs had, off the top of my head I'd say (at this hour of night) I'd say we have double the fanbase so when Bohs had 2,500 people at their Euro game, we had 5,000 (both roughly, and both in the relatively unprestigious first round)

And yet we were out bid for several players by Bohs this off-season. When they outbid us, and Rovers asked the FAI to make sure the salary cap was fully enforced we were called bad losers/bitter etc. Half way through last season Bohs had the league wrapped up, then an embargo was enforced, pay cut was taken etc, and they scraped over the line. This time round, after Rovers asked to ensure finances were in proper order, for the first time in 2 years Bohs haven't run away with the league by this time, when fair restrictions were put in place. Coincidence?

Bohs entire financial model has been based on in the next two years getting through to a group stage in Europe to pay off their staggering debt. They've promised players money they haven't been able to pay two years in a row, and yet we're meant to treat them as fantastic champions. A few days ago it was revealed that they've yet again not paid players their money promised, is it any surprise they've been hammered today?

God knows where they go from here, they gambled so badly that unlike say Pats last year they can't just scale back and start to rebuild. They are in big trouble. I've no pity for them. Rovers have built a pretty good team this year on a sustainable budget. Probably not one good enough to beat Bnei Yahuda on Thursday, but hey, we've got crowds of less than 4,000 most weeks so what can we expect. If we were Bohs we'd have paid Twigg an extra €1000 for no particular reason, and expect that to make the big breakthrough in Europe. Ridiculous.

Dundalk didn't sign 15 players when they were looking good after 3 weeks, Pats didn't strengthen their squad with imports they couldn't afford, and we didn't suddenly give Mannus a four figure deal after he made a few good saves. Only one (max) of Pats, Rovers and Dundalk could win something this year, but all will have better seasons than Bohs. Hopefully tonight is the final nail in the coffin of ridiculous 'financial doping' by LoI clubs. If it's also the final nail in the coffin of Bohemian FC I dont think anyone can have any tears for them after what they've seen happen to a half dozen clubs, and yet carried on blindly and arrogantly, regardless.

If people on here are laughing at Bohs tonight just imagine what it says for the rest of us if the league champions get beat 4-0 to a team you lot give no credit to. Either TNS are a far better side than people give them credit for or our league is not as good as people think it is.

Just back from the TNS game and I have to say - Bohs were beaten by some decent play.

On every count tonight Bohs were poor and TNS were much better. The Saints were much pacier, took every chance they had, closed-down Bohs players immediately, kept the ball and passed it around on the ground a lot, and they were much hungrier for the win. Conversely Bohs looked like the team who were just coming out of the off season. They were slow to the ball, uncommital in tackles, their defence was caught for pace plenty of times (particularly Powell), they had few shots on goal, and they were carved open by TNS on the break time after time. Bohs seemed unable or unwilling to try to play through midfield, and their primary strategy was to launch long balls to the left wing - even though TNS had a solid defender who was happy to just head them back every time. And they seemed to have noright wing play at all (Cillian Brennan looked particularly disinterested as the game wore on). Bar a 10min spell straight after half time, Bohs never really looked like scoring. There wasn't a single Bohs player who had a good game tonight, and quite a few who had a poor one (Quigley, Powell, Byrne, Brennan). The weather didn't help, but was no excuse.

Maybe it was an unusually good night for TNS and an unusually bad night for Bohs, but if TNS played like that in the LOI every week they'd be Premier title contenders.

For my money the result tonight wasn't as bad a collapse as Carmarthen v Longford, as that result was hard to explain. It's very easy to explain what happened tonight - Bohs were well beaten and can have no complaints.

Well TNS do seem to have been better than they were given credit for - even the local commentators were shocked by how well they played. I don't think it's the league, though - it's Bohs that have gotten worse. Fingal got a great result against a team from a much stronger league.

The truth is probably both those things - particularly this season.
