    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Absolutely delighted with that news.

He cant p*ss as many players off being a scout ....or can he!!!!!

Good man Wim, now get someone worthy of the position in to manage the lads.

    This is great news.

Looks like they're gonna take their time with the new appointment (before the next game on the 10th August), probably the sensible thing to do. Amazing news anyway.

'He will take up a new position overseeing the FAI's UK based scouting network, continuing to work closely with the underage and senior international set up'

I suppose that means the North as well.

With Wim Koevermans overseeing things, is it possible that we'll be installing a few coaches from the Ajax Academy? Ireland to be the next great exponent of totaalvoetbal?

I'd like to see Kenny Cunningham get a job in the new management team. I think he would do very well.

All joking aside I think the obvious replacement really would be Liam Brady.
He's experienced in dealing with young players at the Arsenal Academy. Has a great working relationship with Trap so Brady would know exactly what the Senior manager would be looking for in terms of players and tactics so the U21 team/tactics could finally act as real support to the Senior squad as U21 players promoted to the senior team would have plenty of experience with Traps tactical style. As opposed to just being abused from a height by Givens.
People might say that Brady would never take on the U21 job due to his commitments with Arsenal but he has ambitions to succeed Trap in a few years time in the big job. The U21 role would be great experience for him, better even than the role he had in the senior team. With any luck a handful of the current U21s would be able to progress into the senior team in three, four years, if Brady did come to be in charge of the Senior team a lot of players would be familiar with his management style.
The FAI should be doing all they can to get him back in the international set-up asap, even if its on a part time basis.
Weaseling out of things is important to learn, it's what seperates us from the animals!! Well... except for the weasel.

Good shout imo but couldn't see him taking it at the present time but no harm in sounding him out.

As regards Givens the best of luck to him whatever he does or doesn't do in the future.

I hope he gets all the luck in the world considering he is still involved with the Irish set up. He doesn't deserve to be still involved in any capacity though in my opinion. Obviously no standards needed to be met while he was in charge of the U21's and now he falls into a cushier number still, with even less scrutiny.

I'm happy that Givens is no longer U21 manager. A change was needed. However this was a chance for the FAI to made a clean break with Givens. Offering him the role of scouting maestro overlooks repeated "problems" occuring under Givens' reign as U21 manager; namely, his constant conflicts with players. However it's a step in the right direction (if a manager with managerial qualifications is appointed as Givens' replacement).

Is Given's taking over this new role from someone else or is this a brand new post created to continue to waste money on this useless ****? If it is a new post, why do the FAI's UK based scouting network suddenly need to be overseen?

I am sure he tried his best but it wasn't good enough so had to go but i am not going to be bitter about it.

I'd like to see Kerr take up the role. But theres more chance of Stan being Uniteds next manager.

Brady is also a good choice but no chance, if he doesnt have the time for assistant senior manager then no way will he manage U21 manager.
