Last year, it started the first weekend in April, so it should be the same again this year.
After one of the Cork fans brought it up again, just wondering when the league restructuring report comes out- it'll be strange if A Championship teams find out during the summer that the season means nothing. The idea that the current format would stay but with First Division teams instead of reserves sounds best, as teams would develop facilities gradually and meet first team opposition every week.

Like the idea of a new cup for the lower divisions, could be run off midweek and there would be plenty fixtures that might never happen otherwise - Castlebar v Wexford, Tralee v Derry etc.
I'm not too sure if the clubs would be all for it, the amateur clubs anyway. Most of their players would have jobs and would find it hard to commit to going down to Wexford midweek if they were working midweek, also the travel costs for the club would increase. Another issue would be attendance at these matches. I think the current 2 cups are fine for the A Championship clubs, especially with the League Cup been regionalised.
The A Championship Cup will be organised in Champions League format groups, no info though on whether winners go into semis or top two into last eight.
No mention of 'A' Championship Cup on Dates page on the Dynamos website

Seeing that there is 18 games in this season, that would say that there is 10 teams in each division.
