It's a Christmas review, not an in-depth look game-by-game. It's documentary-style.Originally Posted by eaststand85

Forensic analysis is what the RTE panel are employed for. Christmas reviews, no matter what the sport, are the bare minimum necessary.
True enough but they could have at least got the panel to contribute and tried for some new interviews with players and/or management.
painful to watch the second bit ... i was inf rance and watched it last nigth to actually see some of our misses/chances, i didnt see any of them in replays or online. i thought it was alright, thankfully didnt dwell on the handball too much .
Its on the rte iplayer for those who missed it.
The rugby got the glossy treatment as their campaign resulted in success. When was the last time there was a review of our campaign when it hasnt been a success, so it was better than nothing.
Killer and McShane were at fault for a large portion of the goals but having watched the first one against Georgia again I think Dunne gave his man a free header which resulted in the ball over Kelly, so I think Dunner gets at least 50% of the blame for that goal, other than that he was Man of the campaign with Keano.
If we got to SA I'd be replaying every game from beginning to end, as it is, I really couldn't be bothered.
Most all highlights are already imprinted in memory and on this site have been forensically analysed from a hundred different angles to the nth degree and to a much higher standard than the sound bites you get in such a program.
It would take some documentary skill to properly encapsulate the campaign from the beginning to the final whistle in Paris.

Agreed 100%. The name Thierry Henry or even seeing Les Bleus on TV will never be the same. However, when not in front of me, I no longer see IT every time I close my eyes. The day I look on the Ireland discussion forum here and don't see the words France, World Cup, or Henry is the day I'll know the forum has moved on.
My Guarantee
Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here
I taped it and to be honest only watched the first 30 mins so far as it was poor show, just hightlights and no analysis of interviews really. Basically you could put it together from the rte website and Darragh Maloney talking over it while standing beside a canal outside Croke Park.
In Trap we trust
I really dont want to see this. They were doing a thing on Newstalk the other night looking back at the France game, had to switch it off :-(
Anyone got a torrent or a way to watch this outside of Ireland. I'm in the US and wouldnt mind having a look at this.
Irish Torrents
It's a handy site to get to watch RTE programs for exiles but you need an invite.
Oh God, no thanks. To have to listen to the panel saying the same thing they've been saying all year would have done my head in. Just about every documentary on Irish football over the past 25 years has included Dunphy spouting off. It's as if he is Irish football. I thought it was refreshing not to have him saying the same old same old.
We don't need "experts" to tell us what happened. It was just a review of the games and I enjoyed it (apart from the last 5 minutes) as such.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
It was an alright programme of its type. Just enough to remind us of what might have been.
And the incompetence of FIFA, cheating of Henry et al....
