Recovering after op. Has now spread to his lungs as well.

Poor fella, only 34. Best of luck to him with his recovery.

Was behind the goal at Anfield for his screamer in the UEFA cup Quarter final and saw him bag plenty against the Rangers as well.

He always split opinion as a player, due to his weight/mobility but I cant help loving a big strong physical player, who lets a CH know they are in a battle and knows how to put the ball in the onion bag!!!

    Best of luck John!!!

It's really tragic news, sadly testicular cancer is particularly strong and always seems to spread rapidly to affect the rest of the body. I hope he pulls through but looking at the situation it looks pretty bleak. He was always a player who gave the very maximum effort when he played.

I'm not one to get emotional about people I don't know personally but this is an exception. It's just all happening so fast after only finding out he had cancer for the first time on Friday. Hoping for a miracle now it seems, fingers crossed!

He started writing a column for the London Paper last year and it was always quite insightful. Really hope he pulls through this.
