UEFA don't have and don't make the eligibility rules. FIFA runs the game. Most everybody here knows that.
You are ignorant about one of the most basic fundamentals of football. Why am I not surprised?

Good point, completely refutes my point as I used the wrong acronym. I have been known to refer to the Netherlands as Holland before in conversation also even though I am aware it actually only constitutes one province of the Netherlands. I think people still understand what I'm referring to though. Well spotted all the same..........

Adrock, I think the rational people will correctly suspect your motives in posting exclusively on eligibility threads and question your actual interest in football matters.
As I suspect you have little interest and knowledge of football and just like those occasional posters who have come here before, you have only the one politicised agenda.

i wouldnt be surprised if he was a NI fan posing as an Ireland fan. Thats what crossed my mind. Either way, meh - pinch of salt required.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Simon Cox scored 2 for West Brom tonight, he has expressed his interest in playing for us before. Surely worth a look given our lack of depth up front?

Yes Cox has declared for Ireland but his only starts this season for the Baggies has been in the Carling Cup. He has been on the bench quite a bit. If he breaks into the HIGH FLYING BAGGIES team (yes I am aWBA fan) then he might also do a job for Ireland.

Surely he should be looked at even if he's on the bench for WBA. Some players currently in the squad are warming the bench quite regularly....

Agreed. Andy Keogh for example is usually just a late sub for Cardiff City. Surely Cox is much better than him.

Sounds similar to the O'Hara situation. In fairness though, strikers are the one area where we don't really have any talent coming through, stokes probably being the best.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 values Keogh two and a half times higher than Cox.

I thought Long did quite well in the last game against Slovakia. Arguably our man of the match.

There's plenty of options available to Trapattoni but there not to be found in the WBA reserves.

Ah, I meant new talent. We've known about Long for ages, and i don't think he's the next Robbie in fairness.

Rebel I agree. If Don Givens is working to some blueprint in terms of recruiting, I would say that the forward area is in need of work. When Robbie retires, Stokes, who is improving, becomes striker no 1. But who else is there? Robert Brady I believe is a winger playing as a striker and Arsenal websites talk quite highly of Roberts. Outside of these two prospects, it's all pretty quiet.

Aye, i notice myself taking a huge interest in Adam Rooney in the SPL hoping, and that's pretty sad really! Maybe the young Murray lad with Ipswich is something to look for but he's not getting much game time.

I thought he said he wasn't interested in playing for Ireland a few years ago or was that myth? I assume his great-grandparents must have been Irish then.

Don't think he can play for Holland either. Think he said that on Soccer Am.

Some quotes from Nolan on this (Ireland) matter in today's paper :

''I spoke to them (the FAI) and we tried to work it out but because my grandad is only half Irish and so is my dad, we we couldn't do it. Someone in the family has to be full-blown Irish, so it was put to bed then. It would have been fantastic, but there you go.''

Surely with all the crookery going on in this country that this one could easily be pulled out of the fire.

I'm a bit puzzled. Surely his father must be quarter Irish?
