CSKA Sofia beat Dynamo Moscow by the same scoreline they beat us (2-1).
Nicolita for Steaua looked liked by far their best player over two legs, it was bad news when they brought him especially seen as St.Pats tactics were becoming necessarily kamikaze at that stage. It showed that they had Steaua worried anyway. Its a good time to play Pats in the next league game I would think, they put in an awful lot of effort and had the disappointment of losing two late goals.

I was really impressed with Pats, they played as good as they could have, on other days, they could have scored 3 or 4 goals in the 2 ties, but the only disappointment, is the way Steaua scored their 5 goals, all avoidable imo.
Just a thought maby next year Irish clubs have to start believing that they can play football and not feel the need to live up to stereotypes? Pat's looked very good tonight when they went looking for goals and looked as good on the ball as Steaua.
How about we try to play a fast attacking style of football? Why is it assumed we can't because sure we're Irish?
It depends will they be able to invest in some signings? You need to have a bit of financial muscle to breakthrough in Europe. Just looking at the APOEL side and theres quiote a few Portuguese playing for them.
At the game last night, cracking atmosphere from both sets of fans.
First half was pretty dire, jesus it felt so long.
Second half was way better, and Pats were unlucky not too make it two.
Steaua were lucky to get the win in the end. The second goal must have been a mile offside, but that linesman was making mistakes all night.
Whatever about the result, Pats did the league proud this year.
Cracking atmosphere last night, had a real European feel to it. fair play to the Romanians who came out in droves. Any got the attendence figure?
thought Pats knocked it around very well at times.
If Ryan Guy had of shown some composure in the first half...
If Cawleys free kick had've went in....
If Rogers came out for the first goal...
if the Linesman hadve put his flag up....
Ah we can but dream. excellant preformance overall and hopefully it gives us the impetus to push on in the League and the FAI Cup.
Overall i dont think anyone gave Pats a hope this year in Europe, what with all the players that left from last years cup run, so kudos to Jeff Kenna and the lads....
"if I close my eyes, its not illegal...."
Sorry, ya that post sounded bad, but in fairness by the sounds of it, unfortunately i couldn't get to see this one, they played very well for 80+ mins bar a silly mistake and an offside, and should have scored at least 1 more if not 2 by the sounds of it... A real pity but plenty to be gained from it.

Considering Hearts were 4:0 down from the first leg, I suspect Zagreb may have taken it relatively easy for last night.
Well done Pats and hard luck. If Irish teams can keep plugging away year-on-year, then at some point luck will favour us in the draws and/or games and we'll make the breakthrough (finances allowing, of course).
What was the attendance last night ?

I see Ventspils of Latvia were in the draw for the Europa League groups stages today.. If they can make it through then I don't see any reason why a LOI team cannot do the same in the next few years..
