Watching the live draw, sickening we're not there & having to watch that smarmy, bald corrupt cnut Blatter as well as the (of all things!) French b0ll0x running the draw makes it even worse!!!
I see England are in the no 1 seeded group as announced today.

France get a handy draw, Inglorius B.....
England got a handy one too.
Think I heard a few boos when the French came out of the bowl?
Group G
Brazil
Ivory Coast
Nth Korea
Portugal
Jasus, welcome to the World Cup Nth Korea. Although it probably been reported as this in N Korea:
Group G
Solomon Islands
San Marino
Nth Korea
Faroe Islands
Pretty happy I have
Uruguay France
Italy Paraguay
England Algeria
Portugal North Korea
Cameroon Holland
& the winners of Spains group v the runners up in Brazil/Portugal/Ivory Coast
Looking at the draw... There is so many s**t teams in there.
N. Korea
New Zealand
Honduras
Algeria
Besides the Brazil & Germany groups every other group is predictable.
Some of the European teams not playing are alot better than half the teams in it.
New Zealand beat Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia & Bahrain to qualify, that says it all
The WC should have the best 32 teams.
I got a few nice ones but nothing spectacular - USA v Algeria will be tasty as will Greece v Argentina. Rounded all off with Switzerland v Honduras.
We've got tickets but I will miss - Germany v Australia (too early for me), Holland v Japan (too far away and going to 2 games that day), Brazil v Ivory Coast (have to lose these in the horsetrading as will go to Nelspruit for Italy v NZ)
I'm short tickets for the 18th & 24th. Hoping to fly to PE that day for Germany v Serbia but may try and go to USA v Slovenia in Ellis Park. Will also try for slovakia v Italy in Ellis Park on the 24th.
Did anyone else think Charlize had a little dig when French were drawn? Sounded like there was some discontent in the audience and the French pr1ck in charge of the draw tried to gloss over it by saying something like 'no comment' and iirc she said 'sometimes no comment tells the whole story' or something similar?
When the 3rd pot was been drawn they couldnt have another African team go in with South Africa so Nigeria came out first so they went into group B and then the Ivory Coast came out but instead of going into group C (Englands group) they went into group G, does anyone know why this happened??
Here on a technicality.
There are only a handful of 'spectacular' games in the group. However, fairly happy with what I got:
Argentina v Nigeria
Serbia v Ghana
Netherlands v Denmark
Brazil v North Korea
Netherlands v Japan
Cameroon v Netherlands
Last 16- Possibly Mexico v Argentina(presuming they come 2nd and 1st respectively).
All in all, not bad. Some good games hopefully.
"....until Ray Houghton got the ball and stuck it in the net!!"
i read about this today on the bbc website. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8393348.stm go to the "Do The Math" section and it will explain all. In short the first two African teams drawn from pot 3 went with the South American groups (Brazil/Argentina) as Nigeria got Group B (Argentina) the next African team drawn (Ivory Coast) went straight into Brazil's group (Group G). For example if Ivory coast were the third African team drawn out they would have gone in the next available group. But FIFA didnt want 2 South American Teams in the same group hence moving the first two African teams around.
Hope that helps![]()
Looking at the draw, made me sad, Ireland are better than at least half of the teams and we should be there.![]()
I got
Italy v Paraguay
England v Algeria
Spain v Switzerland
and North Korea v Portugal
The last 2 games pretty much came down to the last 2 balls and was hoping for Spain v Portugal. Delighted to get England v Algeria though.
Standard view seems to be that England got it easy.
I probably agree but is there a possible alternative view?
USA - well organised and athletic. If they bring their A game then they could win.
Slovenia - beat Hiddink's Russia and came out well in a group with Czech Rep and Poland, and the banana skin that NI usually are. Lowest goals against in qualifying.
Algeria - beat the African champions to qualify. I expect they'll be quick and technical as is the style of north African teams.
i think england will get through but not as easy as people make out because there playing the americans 1st if the lost that..they could be already 3 points behind after 1 game and slevenia as previously mentioned will be no push over algeria like tunisia before is where england will get 3 points
USA will be no push-overs. Anyone who saw them in the Confed Cup will know it.
Slovenia, as mentioned, beat Russia and came through a tricky group.
Algeria the team I know least about but I wouldn't dismiss them. They could be a very unknown.
I'm really looking forward to Group G. Brazil and Portugal are probably favourites but IC will be tough and I don't think DPRK will be as easy as people think. They finished ahead of Iran, iirc, and in 2006 Iran were no pushovers.
Group E could also be very interesting, though I imagine Japan will be the whipping boys in that one.
