Going to Orlando early January doing the usual over there DisneyWorld, Universal etc.. and was wondering if anyone here has been before and if they have any useful tips on getting around (how easy it is), the best things to do, things that just can't be missed etc...

You are screwed without a hire car, unless you are staying in one theme park and only want to go to that theme park.

Also bring a jumper and coat. Weather will certainly be better than here but will get nippy in the evening.

Same advice as earlier in the thread. Don't try and do everything otherwise you won't enjoy it.

Staying for 2 weeks so trying to do as much as we can but not going to burn ourselves out either. Was looking into getting a car but its very expensive as because i'm under 21 they add on an extra 27 Dollars per day. Its a pity i will have to depend on buses. Still looking forward to the experience though

Get with the the front desk/concierge at the hotel you are staying at. A lot of them have free shuttles to and from the theme parks. Buses are non-existent in Orlando I'm afraid. You'll have to rely on a taxi.

Ya the hotel we are staying at says there are shuttle buses alright, think there is only one or 2 places there is no bus for direct from the hotel

DisneyWorld is a must, maybe Universal Studios if you have kids. Everglades are interesting if you can arrange a boat tour but I've heard of people getting taken into the middle of them then being told they'd be left there unless they paid a nice sum so be careful. You could go to Cape Canaveral as well. Or just lay on the beach.

Is it you and mates or are you going with family? If with the mates, Key West would be my recommendation. With family and kids, Orlando is a must. Clearwater is nice also for the family, if you like the beach.

Me and herself going. Hoping to do about 10 to 14 days. A few friends of mine have done Disneyworld and then to naples and miami i think it was and all recommended it. Need to get more detail from them really but only starting to look into it now.

just for those who are interested, i booked flights to oraldno via dublin, connecting at gatwick for virgin atalantic, for 2 adaults and 2 kids cost 1100 euro via expedia, 25% discount for some bizarre reason

What dates was that for?? BTW for anyone thinking of going to Orlando I'd recommend using Undercovertourist to buy your theme park tickets. Free Delivery to Ireland and some very good discounts. It's handy if your planning on going next year, you can buy up the tickets you want over a 6-8 months period, so by the time you get going you should have all the tickets you need, cos I think some people get quiet a shock when they get there and realise the prices for the Theme parks. it can easily cost over 1500 for a family.

I cant wait as i am the biggest kid ever and i love the states. Wondering about getting tickets for parks whats the cheapest way etc and whats worth going to/not going to?!
