His isn't that strong, by their standards.

    Possibly his only redeeming feature...

Is that the reason the official announcement has been delayed? Saturday's reports hinted a Monday announcement from the Turkish club.

EDIT: He landed in Turkey last night at Ataturk airport where he refused to answer the media's questions.

The Blackburn thing was a smokescreen. He signed a pre-contract on Friday after meeting with reps in England earlier in the week. Dan McDonnell tried to dredge it up (sells more papers to the barstoolers) and there was talk of it in the UK, but it's best for him to head to Turkey. In 2002 I thought his behaviour ott, which was something considering his behaviour before it. However he can, with the right support, be a good enough manager (with a good coach beside him) and make a proper career. He has some good players at his disposal in Turkey, some serious lads, so good luck to him.

It will be interesting what style of football he plays if he's now managing one of the stronger teams in the league. Sunderland played some good stuff when they walked the Championship but they became very practical when they stepped up to the Premier. Keane has always enjoyed a bit of ball played on the ground.

As ever, Newstalk's Off The Ball delivered the pertinent insight into a story such as this. A Turkish journalist described how the club are hoping for a top 5 finish but that Turkish football's mindset is strictly focused on immediate success so failure to deliver on this front leads to dismissal. See the recent failures of Rijkaard, Hiddink and Del Bosque. Kasimpasa is the club supported by the Turkish president, although they have been languishing quite low in recent years, they have a strong history as a decent side around the top leagues. Also stated it's a project like that of QPR and Malaga with owners in possession of funds intent on rejuvenating a club with a strong identity.

I'm just wondering, why Keane? So many more managers in the game. Although the journalist stated that Keane is instantly recognizable due to his days at the heart of Manchester United's success. Sometimes, I feel, the media in the UK tends to pay more homage to Giggs, Scholes, Henry and Bergkamp. Keane has been as critical to his side's success as any of them, in my opinion.

I'd hardly consider those managers in the same league as Roy.

Nor would I. That sort of worries me but they were with once of the big 3; Besiktas, Fenerbhace and Galatasaray. I'm imagining things are slightly more cut-throat at those sides. But if this chap is flinging money at Kasimpasa then he has a right to expectations too, I guess.

The club only got promoted last year and are within touching distance of the top of the table after a few games this season. Did they really just decide their last guy wouldn't be able to stay in the top 5?

On reputation at least, Kasimpasa would not only be behind Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, but also behind Trabzonspor and Bursaspor. Expectations are going to be extremely high and if Keane even goes 2-3 games without winning, he will be under pressure.

Just had a quick google, and in the last few years Kasimpasa have nearly went through a new manager every 6 months!

He's turned down the job as he doesn't want to relocate his family to Turkey: http://www.irishtimes.com/sports/soc...324876845.html

Makes you wonder why he bothered going for talks with them at all. It's almost as if he was trying to coax an English club into making him an offer.

Triggs must not have liked the Turkish dog food.

You'd have to guess that's he's pretty much a shoe in for the Blackburn job now.

Doesn't want to move his family there, WTF? Is the possibility of having to move to the country he's managing in just occurring to him or what?

Very strange, bad show from Roy, if he plumps for Blackburn it shows the limit of his ambition and courage. Trading Turkey for chicken, says much about the man.
