Download pirates locked up for a year

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle2383353.ece

FOUR men were jailed yesterday for running a controversial downloading website used by thousands of British music, movie and gaming fans.
The landmark guilty verdict by a Swedish court was a victory for giant entertainment firms out to protect revenues over supporters of free file-sharing on the internet.

But the four defendants vowed to appeal, claiming The Pirate Bay site had done nothing wrong.

Its a bit like trying to stick a figer in hole in a dam.

The irony of this ruling is that the site is still running, and now that every newspaper, report, and website has mentioned it, the traffic to it is going to skyrocket

My understanding of the ruling is that they are guilty because the site hosts links to copyrighted content. But if you search for a torrent on google, and it returns a link to pirate bay, does that mean google is also guilty?

It is a farce, they provide the service, what users do with the software is their business, not the sites problem, they do not have any material on their servers so they cannot be blamed in any way, what about other torrent sites, why are they getting away with it and only 1 site getting punished, another daft thing.
